Has anybody every tried using GOLF BALLS inside their tires. Some "old timer" told me that he use to do this and didn't have to use weights on his wheels. So what do you guys think...... Would it work?

There is a product out there where they fill lots of beads in your tire and it does actually balance it out, but the golf ball thing scares me a little...

Seems to me that the only thing they would do is piss me off because of all the racket they would make.

I'd come up with a top 10 but I can only come up with four at the moment

    1. Your balls are not supposed to fit inside the rubber!

    2. I heard they only work on "Tee's"

    3. I heard they only work on "Club" coupes

    4. How would you keep all the lottery and bingo players from chasing you down.

Neither the beads or golf balls are going to work. I work in a front end shop, and the only way to get any shimmys out is a balance and tire shave-(if you know someone thats still has the machine) for bias-plys, and either a balance and or trueing the wheel for radials. Believe me, the beads dont work, take some to your local alignment man with a high-speed spin balancer and throw some in. Golf balls......is just crazy, more annoying than anything.

Rockcrawlers have been using balancing beads forever to balance their tires (usually out of round anyway) since not many places are keen on beadlocks. Works fine for them, I've personally ridden in rigs before and after. Can't see why it wouldn't work here.

    6. Rules say if you have a blowout and the balls go flying, you still have to yell 4

let me ask you this do you belive in santa clas the tooth fairy the easter bunny if you do put the golf balls in you'r tires

  24. Well, of course you would only use the golf balls when you get a hole in one.

Anyone have a technical explanation of why this does or doesn't work, though?

I run 36x12.50-15 bias-ply Super Swamper TSL's on my daily driver. Off road guys can confirm that these tires are notoriously hard to balance, and often out of round. There are 8oz. of balance Dynabeads in each tire, and not a single balance weight on any of the 6 wheels (4 on the road, 2 spares).

I have run up to 100 mph a few times, and see the better part of 85 mph on a regular basis. There is no shake whatsoever. Wear over the the last 25,000 miles has been smooth and even.

If they don't work, then how do you explain this?

I run Dyna Beads they work , little 71 BMW 13" wheels 2 ozs in each wheel 100mph zero shake. I tried to get them in my roadster front tires & couldn't get them through the valve stem !!! even with their "vibrator" helper.I sell them a lot too to Bikers mainly, they love them.
