Preordering it now- Not a wagon owner yet, but I very much aspire to own one soon. i just think they are so cool; they are the forgotten workhorses.

Ouch! I wish you still had it, too. But if you own the Riviera in your avatar, you're not hurtin' too bad - that's nice!

This makes me smile. Weird to think of people paying money for something I'd do for free, but this is even better... Thanks Slik!

Absolutely! It was the biggest feature in the book - 15 pages worth! Even had a pull-out poster included and it was the cover car - until my evil slavedriving editor cut it from the book. Sorry about that, brother. That's showbiz though... Maybe I can use it in my next book: "Old cars that get melted down and used for tuna fish cans".

Me too, Jay. That's such a sweet car! Unfortunately, we had a lot of situations like this. And in the end, several nice cars were left on the cutting room floor. Brutal, but that's the law of the jungle. The editor has the final say, not me.

  8. I'm sure glad I kept my '53. Bought it back in '76 before wagons were "cool". Love the ugly old beast. :D

  10. Did you post this announcement over at station wagon forums too?
You'll probably get a whole lot of interest there.
Just asking, don't remember seeing it there.

Oh man - how long has that site been around? I sure could've used that when I was on the wagon hunt! Oh well, I just registered there - we'll see what they think about me promoting my goods... Thanks for the link, JoJo!

  13. I think it's been around for a while. I found it about a year ago when I decided to "wake up" the Suburban again. Pretty mellow bunch of folks there. I'm sure you'll get a lot of interest in your book from them.

Oh sure, I get a '60 Chevy TWO DOOR wagon for Christmas, and a big block in my garage and I miss out completely...but maybe it'll be done in time for the long-roof book sequel...

Oh, BTW, below is the other wagon I'm currently working on...it's a near stocker with only 73,000 miles on it...found it not two miles from my place.

Roger: I've been following your thread - couple of cool wagons there! Can I have the Pontiac? Either one would be fun in the sequel, which just might happen...
    Thanks,
    Scotty

Dakota: That's so cool! Perfect stance, too. Sadly, we had two Edsels lined up for the book, but neither guy could get it together in time. We also had some Caddys, but same problem - life gets in the way sometimes. Luckily, we made up for that with Studes and other exotica...

Thank you Norm! Don't know if you were around here last year when I was trolling for custom wagons, but man I was goin' nuts over it. When I found yours I about had a heart attack! Perfect. Thanks for all the extra work you did to make this happen Norm!

Rusty: They retail for $30, but Amazon and Barnes & Noble are taking pre-orders at 10% off. So let's see here... 30 minus 10... carry the 1... to the third power... looks like $1,783.92 - can that be right? Damn, I'm gonna be rich beyond my wildest dreams! Rich! Rich I tell ya!
    Thanks Rusty!

Roger - It's only fair - I owe you. Do you mind if I add on extra pages, if I really get on a roll?

  27. Hey Scotty, I still got the wacky 92 Buick sedan delivery. Thinking about repainting Marina blue with different wheels so people won't ask for my autograph now that the car will be famous.

Are you going ona book signing tour?

Congrats Scotty!!!!! This is just too cool. It's great when you FINALLY discover your calling in life. I'll be on the look out for it locally, and when I get it, you can probably afford to fly out in your corporate jet to sign it for me, OK?
