Yeah, "overkill" is right! You would figure they'd at least unbolt them before they raced the car. :) Unless they were welded to the frame (which I seriously doubt).

More Scotto & Blevins coverage, this time it's their 66 Vette. I understand the car is somewhere north of the boarder now. Anyone know the details?

You're welcome, Dave. This paint job is my favorite.

This thread should spread like wildfire!!! Our portion of Div.1 had even more of these 'class' cars than there were Jr. Stockers.

Geez, towing from PA to Indy with one com-a-long holding the car on the trailer! Brilliant.

Ha, your tow car is a Chevelle SS! Where are both of those cars today? Like you said, great to be young and dumb..

Man, look at that wheel plant! I love the way those Mopar leaf spring cars could seperate the body from the tires!

The Camaro changed hands a couple of times, and I had seen it some years later running as a bracket car. I racked my brain trying to remember who I even sold or traded the Chevelle to. You know, there were some "foggy years" for some of us back there in the '60s and '70s...

Dan's father Tom bought the Camaro brand new and it now has been a race car all it's life. The six cylinder Valiant was indeed one of Curt Lashures' early race cars long before going to work for Bob Lang at the Div. 1 office. He has since retired. Moe Hales 'Hangman' was an awesome sounding stout runner!

Here's a pic of Bob Widmeyer's G/Gas 58 Corvette out of Martinsburg,WV taken in March 1978 at the Berkeley Plaza car show. His son Robby won Super Comp at this past PA Dutch Classic at Maple Grove. My Dad Kenny Rose was Bob's wrenchman for several years after he quit driving until 1979. They were regular campaigners at Mason Dixon, 75-80, and York US30 along with racing at all major Division 1 WCS events, and several national events as well.

Ah, the mid-late-1970s as I remember them. :) This picture sums up the 'look' of those times, e.g., young crowd, the clothes, the cars, etc. and one that this (then) 20-year-old, who was having the time of his life back then (dirt-cheap supercars from the 60s & 70s, good friends, good music, hanging out in shopping centers with our supercars, endless cruisin' during the summer and not-so-summer daze and nights, etc.). If you were there you can relate to what I'm saying. I will always have fond memories of those fun-filled, care-free and car-crazy daze. Thanks for posting the pix and sharing the memories.

"He ran this car as a C/Gasser with an injected 426 Chrysler Hemi."

    Smart man. :D

    Regards,

    Pete

For those who have come on over from the Junior Stock thread, you'll remember the name John Archambault. John was a high school teacher from Philadelphia who had a red hot 57 Chevy Junior Stocker by the name of Hydrophobia before fielding this Modified Production Baracuda in 1971.
