just replace the coils with just sized bags or similar.

yeah, it's really quite easy. A plasma cutter will really speed up the job, or a torch will work. A cut off saw will work, but will take eons. You just gotta cut out the spring pockets to accommodate the bag, cut the spring perches off the axle and radius arms, built some cups for the front (I think mine are about 5 inches) then weld the circle plates to the radius arms on the front, then weld circle plates in the rear where you cut off the spring perches. Bolt it all up, run the air lines, and you're riding on air. No real need for a kit. BUT, if you have the cash to spend, Air Ride Technologies has a kit using shockwaves in the front. WAYYY too much money for me, plus shockwaves have limited travel.

 

I have a 68 rag top. I will be bagging it after the paint work is done. Im using slams 6 ply bags on my big ol girl. a few post floating around on bagging 60 caddys.

 

I recently bagged my 68. Universal Air has a simple kit that includes hardware. I recommend running slam specialties or air ride tech bags. All I had to do was the same as stated above. Weld round plates to the lower control arms and rear after cutting off the spring tits...

I didn't cut into the car at all. Just trimmed about 3/8 all the around the spring pocket to open it up to hold 7" diameter bags.

It lays crossmember up front and is about an inch out back... The biggest issue I am having is laying on the exhaust, which the shop will be remedying soon.

I did it all in my driveway/ garage with a simple set of tools. I am really impressed with the universal air hardware kit. Made life super easy...

The only thing I need to do now is do a full front end rebuild. Everything got really sloppy in the steering and such after bagging. It seems the extreme stresses and range of motion take a toll on 43 year old rubbers and joints...haha...
