I have a Hobart 187 and a Hypertherm Powermax 45 plasma cutter. I paid for them both by working, I'm 15 so it was an accomplishment for me. I would like a miller 211 or 252 someday, on thick plate steel the Hobart could use a little more juice.

i am a welder by trade so have owned many and used everything from the old linde's to the fanciest millers and lincolns, but at the moment my garage setup is simply lincoln 180, a miller maxstar 150 and a victor combo torch

hard to beat those little 180 series mig machines from any manufacturer, price, size and power output is perfect for 95% of anything automotive

I just took delivery of my new YA212 Mig / Tig Snap On welder. As soon as I wire it in to the shop, I'll be sure to post how it performs. All of the reviews were all top notch, can't wait to find out!

At the shop,Miller syncrowave 300,a miller cp-300 mig,and a hypertherm max 24 plasma. All oldies but goodies. At home a lincon 300 ideal arc tig and a miller 251 mig.The syncrowave 300 is the nicest for aluminum and the lincon is super for steel.
As stated earlier get the best you can,you will never regret it.

I'm a plebe - haven't welded since "farm shop" in HS. Just bought a new Lincoln 180HD 240V welder and a spool gun. Gonna sit down with some mild steel and make me some beads, and when that looks OK, I'm gonna hook some pieces of metal together in various positions, then...and only then...I might just build something. Like a better welding table perhaps?

    miller 140 mig
    miller 252 mig
    miller 200 syncrowave tig
    hypertherm powermax 1000 plasma.

love them all. they spoiled me at work so the syncrowave feels like child's play. Its still a great machine and i use the shit out of it. But they got me a dynasty 350 at work and its just ridiculous.

Millermatic 200, Airco Heliwelder 250, and 3 (!) Lincoln SA200 Pipeliners, flatties all- need to get rid of a couple of those. I started on one of those big Forney boxes in my gramps' shop at 10- it also had the accessory battery charger. Got another one about a year ago and passed it on to a guy that's doing ornamental fence- heavy sumbitch, but a damn good welder- as are those SA200's

  24. Daytona Mig 240v and NAPA (Daytona Mig) plasma cutter,

  25. Miller Syncrowave 200 TIG, Lincoln Power Mig 220.

  26. Millermatic 185 220V for the big stuff and a 110 Lincoln for sheet metal. A Hypertherm 600 is next on the list followed by a high capacity TIG. Someday....

HOLY SHIT! THOSE ARE THE WELDERS I USE!!!! Esab runs Lincoln .035 L56 wire and the Lincoln runs .023 L56. We've been kickin the idea around about a TIG. I've done it at work on alumimum. But not mild steel. Good welders man!

Oxy/acetylene is all I use. It cuts, it heats, welds steel and aluminum and braze everything else. The only drawback is that you have learn how to weld in order to use it.
