Doug, the same blue as 'sugar blues'? Also, was the entire nose white? I've only got one picture of Len and Shorty McAndrews sitting together at Cherry Park and it's hard to tell.

I believe this was at one of these races .. probably 1961.

USAC had a rule that no oil or water could be added during a race.

A number of ARDC cars were Ford V8-60's aND Dutch (Schaefer) know that the Fords would need one or both during the race, so he petitioned USAC to suspend the rule. ..... USAC declined.

Dutch then .. politely & cordially .. then told USAC .. 'OK .. Then I'll have to tell ALL the ARDC cars to load up & go home!!'

Since USAC only had a few cars here and the ARDC cars easily made up the majority of the field .... the USAC Officials quickly agreed to suspend the rule!!!!

Green flag pit stops. There was enough pit lane to use the push trucks. Drivers had to get out of the cars for refueling, NJ state police rule!

    1961 was blistering hot.

I'm doing great Tony, for an old man.

    How is your Mom???

Do you still have your Dad's roadster?

I sometimes think of the day at New Egypt, in 1974 I ?THINK?, when you were driving the roadster. You spun, backed into the fence and your helmet came off and rolled down the track. The rest of the field scattered trying to avoid it .... thinking it was your head.

Geez, the last I heard anything about you, the late Sonny Sanders told me that you were in Florida selling Legend race car parts & pieces.

  16. Can anyone provide the dimensions of the radiator core for a Kurtis midget? Ie , area and thickness

I am at that stage with my replica where I need to build this. I want those dimension so I have a baseline to work with.

tb7118, Ah....Now I know who you are, Tony B Jr. So I have to tell you I never knew your Dad personally but he along with several others was one of my hero's when I was just starting my racing career. Denny Z

Can anyone tell me what track these were taken at. Might not be the same track for all the shots. Also, there are two cars numbered 10. One is the Vitucci Offy. Who drove/owned the Ford powered 10? Anyone? Maybe Ken? And one more thing. Who are the drivers in the lineup? Vitucci car is Coy.

    Mike ..

Your recent posting & the weather we've been having ... brought this earlier posting of yours to mind.

Perfect weather for someone to do something like this again.

Mike554, I am certain that is NASCAR midget races. Interestingly the last 2 pictures has a #10 midget that my dad owned for 3 years. He bought it from Raymer, you can read the name on the back of the pit crew.

Ken. I was thinking the same thing today. I wish I had the talent.

Jim. You are right. These were NASCAR midgets. And yes, you can see the name on the shirt. I couldn't make it out. Here is another shot that I find interesting. It was taken in Brooklyn. In it you can see the Vitucci car newly painted but not yet numbered. Also what appears to be the same Ford 10 on the left.

Glad you liked it Ken and Mike554. There were more driver head shots if anyone is interested I'll scan and post them.

    I LOVE that photo!

Can you PLEASE post a larger version of that photo? There's a mechanic working on the hood of the 10 car that looks familiar, I need to get a closer look!
