This was our 2011 GNRS - Suede Palace - Road Devils Pick Trophy. Me and my club brother RoadDevil13 finished it off Saturday morning around 1:30 and jumped in the car to head to the show. We chose Ian Berky's 51 Chevy "Minor Threat". A car that almost everyone should be and is familiar with. His story and first build are inspiring and having the chance to see the car in person was a true privilege. Ian has incredible talent and is one of the coolest and most humble builders out there. It was an honor to present him with our trophy and made the 40 hour sleepless voyage worth it. Thanks to everyone involved in the show for making it happen and for allowing us to be a part of it every year. p.s. Sorry for the not so very good pictures. I am not a photographer. If ANYONE got some pictures of the presentation during the show please PM me!!!!
Yay for Ian!!! Couldn't have gone to a nicer dude. And yay for the Road Devils for having great taste!!
Why yes...Yes we do. Jeffrey, I got to spend some time with Scooter thankfully. Sorry you couldn't make it this year.
Scooter also is the salt of the earth. I was a little sad I couldn't make it out there at first but as Scooter was saying, I've been extremely fortunate this year to have my son happy and healthy after going through a bit of a rough patch so that's really all I could ask for. I'll be out there next year though hopefully!
and Ian getting pretty emotional......It was so funny...Ian thanked his wife for getting him such a piece of shit to build! otherwise he wouldn't have cut up a nice car!
hahaha congrats Ian! I remember when I first met Ian at Pomona and i saw pics of his "project" and thinking "good god that needs some work!" hahaha, fast forward a few years, and his car is winning awards, and mine is still not even close to being finished! hahaha! Helluva car, helluva guy
That was really cool. He got real choked up when he got that award. From what he was saying, it sounds like his wife is a real keeper, too. Great story. Awesome trophy, too! Way to pick 'em!
it was one hell of a ride....GNRS Suede Palace and the Kustoms were just overwhelming. Thanks Axle for working so hard to put it all together And thanks Bad Bob for making sure my ugly mug was mostly out of frame
The Road Devils have GREAT taste! What a car!! Congrats Ian, on an awesome job and well deserved award.

Thanx everyone for the kind words, I am beyond speechless!!!! Thank you Axle for another great show, and "customs then and now"!! Thanx Bad Bob for the pics!!!!
Congrats Berky!!! I hope the awards turned your attitude around!!! Ian is a true craftsman and visionary. after the work he did on my 52 he will be the 1st choice for ANY custom work we choose to dive into. well deserved my friend. next year, maybe the caddy and the threat side by side... maybe we can get axle to do an IBK display like they do for the clubs ...... Nice going bro.
Congrats Ian, well deserved award. Always enjoy seeing your work on the HAMB and will hopefully catch it in person one day. Keep on bashing that metal.
