I work In the auto industry and have to deal with chinese crap everyday. I would really be suprised if the material they are using is up to par. I would definantly have it checked out at a metalurgy lab.

This old debate about XXX showed up on the Williams Grove message board a while
ago. Someone from the company posted all the information regarding the tubing and its source. They aren't in business to lose money, but I don't think they would have gone into business knowingly putting drivers' lives at risk.

My father and I saw the 81 after it was restored at the Motorsports show in Fort Washington, Pa. I don't remember the year.

The 81 car is the Central Excavating that was owned by Pete Salami of Ohio. ( I hope the spelling and state is right, I'm relying on my memory. Dad's not here ) My dad helped with this car on occasion when at Langhorne and Trenton

Many years ago, I recall somebody in PA. peddling 4130 tubing at a cheap price. Quite a few guys here in the midwest got burned on that deal when it was discovered that the stuff was not certified Condition N tubing. Does anyone else remember this incident????
Some of the recent 4130, that I have gotten, is coming from Germany.

Yeah, I remember that. It was back in the 70s and there was a bruhaha of sorts about it in the press, NSSN and such. May have had something to do with Toby Tobias being killed. Really don't remember for sure though. (?)

Here are some photos I have taken over the years of Dave Schleppi's Chenowith Indy car, built in the Kuzma shop by Don Brown. This to me is the most beautiful Indy cars built and Daves restoration is wonderful. Two thing about the car, as they were using 18" tires the drive line goes up hill from the engine to the rearend with two universal joints so the engine sits as low as posible. And second, when Dave starts that thing up it is the loudest, ear splitting and bad ass nasty sounding engine. Car had a great sprint car history also.

Kinda explains the "Mechanical Rabbit"!! Does anybody remember the "mousetrap" style valve springs on the motor when the car carried"Grizzly Brake" as a sponsor?

It became the Lyle Roberts roadster that raced USAC sprint/super mod clear into the 1980s, Jeff Bloom and others drove it.

I don't have photos of that time, I am sure others can help. One thing Schleppi told me is that someone took the hand made nose off the car and put it on a shelf before it ran as a sprinter, you can just imagine of how that nose could have been bashed up.
