Nice car, had a '49 in High School and this made my heart zing a bit. I just retired too, congratulations. Hope to see the car on the road soon. I'd a bought it for that price......
Very beautiful car, I just have to say this, the jack stand in your pic is resting on a body mount not the frame. It may be fine but its not the strongest place to put it. I had a friend crushed by a car, so its kinda a pet-peve to look at other peoples jack placement. Im looking forward to seeing this come together, good luck MrC
all the drive train is long gone, sold all of it to another HAMBer to get his old field find back on the road..
Thats what they told me too. Ive been all over the HAMB searching to see if anyone has used the drop spindles with the cross member. I havent found a thing yet......
Thats a very nice project you have goin on there . Keep at it and you'll be rollin along in no time . Check out my link for inspiration . You are way ahead of the game from my point of view anyway !!!!!
i just read your whole thread... WOW, i "may be" a little ahead of the game when i compare it to yours...
a couple more pictures... it got to cold in the big shop so i took it off the lift and put it in the small heated shop... before and after pictures..
well, a little up date..... damn back had been giving me trouble and two weeks ago i finally had back surgery. i had a bulging disc in the L-5 vertibre.. it's all fixed up now and i can actually stand up and pee again.. lol, probably 4 more weeks before i'll be back to normal.... can't wait to get back in the shop....
i'm back to normal.. Yay me, no more back pain as for the project... it's amazing what a LOT of elbow grease, oil eater, and paint will do to a engine.. i just might have to put the engine in tomorrow, that's my next step here's a couple of before and after pictures..
What a nice car, keep up the good work. nice job on that engine, now go fire it up and post the video!
i just came in from the shop.. got the engine in, i need to remake me an alternator mount, the one i made set it down on the frame rail. and got to do a little grinding on the header for the water temperature sending unit...
you ask and you shall receive, heres mine with 2 inch dropped spindles and the springs up 2 inches with the C.E frontend.
Wow, our cars/builds are very simular! I just removed the torque tube rear last weekend(anybody need one?), next is cutting/ grinding/ punching all those damn rivets out. I got CE frt and rear also. I'm going with a little more power. I'll post some more pics as I go. Good luck and maybe see ya around somewhere.
I do the same thing, when all done scrap donor left overs and you may end up with free or near free parts!!
FYI if you havnt got to the drive line yet I got mine out of a astro van to save a few bucks and it was a perfect fit. thought that might help you out and put some money into something else.
