What year of Olds valve covers are you talking about? If it is the Olds Rocket V-8 covers 49-51, it is to make the Chevy look like an Olds.

Why would anyone want a 49-51 Olds V-8 to look like a Chevy V-8??

I've got a 250 I6 from an Omega, and it has nothing on it to indicate it was formerly in an Olds. I wish it said rocket 6 or something but sadly it dosen't. But I'm not going to loose any sleep over it.

I collect valve covers and yes I have them, hanging on the wall.
I have seen sbc valve covers that say Packard, Studebaker and Kaiser and I will have them too. OCD is what I think they call it.

If your valve cover is steel, cut the name you want out of one and weld it in yours. Problem solved.

  12. Now THAT is funny right there!

I'm thinkin' a fauxsmobile on one side and a cadillac on the other then split the engine paint with caddy blue and olds green right down the middle. If I had a small block I'd just maybe consider such an ugly thing.

Yeah but I only collect REAL Olds valve covers .
Us Olds guys build what we love, not something to save a buck then turn around and pretend we did it right

Baknthday [before sbc] runnin' an Olds or Caddy mill was a serious statement in a hotrod, you drew lookers right away. Today, somehow puttin them valve covers on a sbc, just don,t seem right.

Putting Olds valve covers on a Chev motor is like stuffing your crotch.

  19. My winter beater is a 1986 OLDS Cutlass ... came from the factory with a 305 "corporate" motor.

My "rod", "jalopy" .... whatever you want to call it is a mid 30's OLDS and I installed a 305 "corporate" engine from an '83 Cutlass in it. The engine I am using in my coupe was factory installed in an OLDS and I have reinstalled it in another OLDS. What would be wrong with putting OLDS covers on it?

Sure, I can hear it now ... "that ain't a true OLDS engine, it's a Chevy" blah blah blah .... (...yawn...)

Cuz they won't fit and it will leak even worse than it does now.

Lighten up guys,..........first off, let me say I DO NOT have an SBC in ANYTHING....too boring.......but I have seen the Olds VC thing and don't get worked up about it. It's just a styling thing as far as I can tell...those early Olds VC's are much better looking than any of the factory tin SBC covers ever were.

Besides, how about all you guys with Olds Fiesta wheel covers or Caddy Sombreros?? Are you "posers" too??

What about '59 Caddy taillights? Real original that one is!! How about grille swaps etc, etc, etc.........

Personally, I'm far more worried about the National Debt and the US going bankrupt, and the consequences of that, than what valve covers some guy screws onto his engine.

Because in your heat of hearts you know it's still a small block Chev, THAT'S WHY!! Put "Corporate GM" on the valve covers if you want it to be real, and don't like it saying Chevrolet.

I, like others, think they look better than any GM center bolt valve cover.

Early Olds Rocket valve covers are a lot easier to find and much cheaper that small block Chevy covers.

At a show in NY I saw a 350 chevy with the Ford blue oval on the valve covers. Don't know if it's a chevy thing or a ny thing
