One of our fellow Lords Skeeter struck a pretty god deal two weeks ago in his hometown Detroit. He heard about this car through a friend and that it was just sitting up there in the heart of Detroit.

Now Skeeter already had a '40 coupe that he wanted to make into a gasser and without pulling any punches the one that he had was pretty rough to say the least so a lot of work was in order. I thought it was a pretty cool idea and I was surprised that I hadn't seen more '40 back in the day in what early 60's cam war/gasser style. So he was in the midst of building his frame on the roached one when he started talking about this one his buddy up in Detroit knew about. Well one thing led to another and Skeeter found himself back up there around Christmas time and wanted to see about this '40 drag car that his friend was hyping up. But when Skeeter got there the car was being loaded on a trailer as was heading elsewhere. He thought he had missed his chance but when he seen the guy getting into his truck he ran over to talk to him and said "listen I came up here from North Carolina to check out this car, you gotta let me make you and offer." The guy said, "well what do you have in mind?" Skeeter said, "all I got is a thousand bucks, would you take that?" The guy said....."where do you want me to drop it off at?":eek::eek:

So now after $1000 being forked over Skeeter owns a pretty rad car that's super solid and way more of what he envisioned then the one he already started. The car was a drag car from the Detroit area from what we know so far. We don't know how far it dates back to in terms of the drag car but it was last raced sometime in the early 70's.

    Features include....

    •1940 Ford Coupe
    •Fiberglass front and rear fenders
    •Fiberglass Full tilting hood
    •1969 Z28 Gm replacement engine
    •LT1 intake and carb
    •Roller Rockers
•Ansen Aluminum Wheels front and back
•Original 60's Spun Aluminum MOON tank
    •MOON tri bar spinner cap
    •Hurst Shifter
    •'57 Olds Rear
    •Split Wishbone front suspension
    •Fenderwell headers
    •SW gauges
•MOON or cal custom Steering Wheel
    •Cal Custom Finned Valve covers
•Original paint looks to be BLACK then it was painted BABY BLUE then ROYAL BLUE and then finally finished in this BROWN In the 70's.

We don't think that the car has any significant history but who knows!!?? We are hoping to maybe just find some history on the car whether it's just the builder or maybe some old pics of it being raced at one time. If any of you can help us track down some info or anything really that would be greatly appreciated.

Skeeter's plans are to rebuild the car but keep most of the original parts as to keep the heritage and integrity of the car. While there is only one Stone Woods & Cook Swindler II there are still hundreds of these unsung hero cars still out there and we'd like to think that they had a big part of shaping our history just as well. So we'd like to find out as much about the car as we possibly can before taking it apart and making any changes.

Pics from last night on the trailer at the shop....

We do to Old-Soul. He's as polish as he comes so if the guy said $1200 he probably would have left it haha!!! It's in his nature to find good deals....because as I said, he's Polish....very Polish.

    Awesome find.
    A 40 Ford for $1000 - about impossible.
A 40 Ford ex-drag car loaded with goodies - incredible.
    Buy a lottery ticket.
