I get it ALOT, I always say thank you because to me it is a compliment. I really dig lowriders and love how much passion goes into building them. Tomatoe, Tomato EH?
I've got 7 cars, but I'll use the woodie as an example. My shoebox woodie is a streetrod/hotrod/stock/modified POS. Some people see my car and think gay hawaiian shits, hula bobble heads and putting surfboards on the roof. Some people see it and think cool lowered car with mag wheels. Some people think it would look better with new wood instead of old wood. Some think the paint and wood patina is perfect. I also know that I don't give a shit what people think. And I surely would never think to write a post asking for help in how to respond to someone who labeled my car wrong. You are most certainly not old school. It was a simple question, why do you care what somebody calls your car?
Why in the hell did you stick those gawd awefull speakers in the doors. Everything looks so nice, then BANG, ugly speaker grills.
I had a guy stop by while I was working on the roadster pickup and told me that was a nice coupe I was putting together. I just said thanks......
Padorey I've given this topic some thought recently , as I purchased a 1937 Lincoln zephyr with the idea of building what is defined as a " early mild custom". But I've been told "hey your building a lowrider" or " it's a bomb". Referring to an early model lowrider as opposed the the quintessential lowrider a 1964 Impala. While traditionial hot rod are late 20's thur 30's and customs are 40's thur 50's ( very generally speaking ) lowriders are built from cars from all decades including and not limited to rides built from Asian and euro iron. Hell if you give them your schwin bike it will become a lowrider. Lowrider is a very broad term. But good taste is good taste and your ride is bad ass, so much so that it can cross many style lines, you should be proud of your results and thanks for sharing pictures. I believe the kustom is the predecessor, inspiration , the grandfather so to speak of the modern lowrider. So if your ride is referred to as a lowrider just tell them "No it's the original lowrider and it changed the car world"
As far as I know she is a keeper to herself we broke up over 20 years ago a the last I heard she is still alone. But has 4 kids.
i had a slammed VW bug (cal look, there we go with labels again) and had it called a lowrider a few times, the first time it caught me off guard though to the point i looked back at the bug to make sure i hadnt gotten outta the wrong car,lol
What ?? You took your Kustom to a low rider show ?? and got best in show ?? I wonder how anyone could be confused......... BTW, I'd just say thanks.....
So the tunes can get out the door panel DUH! That is an interior to die for,no problem with the looks at all, great job
that interior screams new age low rider not kustom! i think you have a real nice car and you should just take it as a compliment
Is this really an issue? If you don't want some uninformed SOB calling your car a lowrider, don't lower it. If you don't want some uninformed SOB calling your car a rat rod, don't paint it flat black and put red rims on it. Otherwise don't sweat it.
Hey Paul, you have any pics with the tassels on the Dagmars? I always get a kick out of that when I see you out and about!
You have a fine looking ride my man. But really, why do you give a shit what ANYONE thinks of your car? As long as you like what you have then don't get your shorts in a twist. If it REALLY bothers you then tell them as Eddie Murphy told Bill Cosby " Have a Coke and a smile and shut the fuck up".
