I prefer rockin' country. I like Dwight Yoakam, The Highwaymen, Confederate Railroad, Alan Jackson etc.
I just listen to the local Classic Rock station in the shop, just as much for the DJ's as the music (Big Tom and his show "Saturday in the shed" rocks!). But when I'm HAMBing I've been listening to Evanescence and Amy Lee herself, Seether, Pearl Jam...Korn...Road Hammers...Matchbox 20...Rush...even some Sarah McLachlan and Chantal kreviazuk! Some of the newest stuff from modern artists is good too. You don't have to stay in the 50's and 60's to find quality work. I find that I'm always attracted to quality LIVE or unplugged performances. It's amazing just how good some of the "oddest" groups are when the amp is turned off and they perform acoustic versions of their songs.
Dropkick Murphys Social Distortion Mike Ness Felice Brothers Brian McGee (out of Asheville, NC) The Town Pants Flogging Molly Lucero Donna the Buffalo Justin Towns Earl a bunch of roots rock a bunch of local bands and lots of old punk
Metallica Van Halen Iron Maiden Motley Crue Def Leppard Lit System of a Down The Screaming Jets The Angels Jimmy Barnes and anything else that rocks!
I made myself an inspirational cd for my garage. It really sets the mood for me, Booker T and the MG's - Green Onions Chuck Berry - Johnny B Goode Credence, Steppin wolf,Albert King,BB King,Ac/Dc just to mention a few on the cd. I also found a great oldies station that is glued on that setting! Good times seem to happen when you work alone with great tunes and a cold beer.
I haven't heard Mr. Beaver Acker Bilk/ Mrs.Mills- very nice. - I go with 3D radio if I dig the slot. Streaming- http://www.threedradio.com/
I fergot to toss in a little regae stuff in there to mun! With all the stuff I chose, it's hard to get any work done while I'm tappin' my feet and clappin' my hands keeping in tune...
