Projects Spirit of South Dakota LSR lakester/rear enigine roadster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tman, Dec 31, 2010.

  1. Here is the start of our car, an XO/GL, think bellytank but more swoopy. I say our because my brother (sentinelT) and Tom (6inarow) are on board so far.

What you see is the developement of the nose of the car. A foam buck getting shaped to pull a mold off of.

laminated blue house insulation. Glued with whatever silicon caulk I had to use up from the house project.

Basic shaping, electric chainsaw, Japanese pullsaw, cheesegrater.

    More shape

Pullsaw, refining the shape, ready to add more foam

Above, first coat of mud, Evercoat Rage. Didnt hurt foam, but too pricey. went to drywall mud to rough it out, below.

  5. Gonna be a slippery little thing. Drywall mud may be cheap but it is a bitch to shape.

  6. Shaping is easy, Carla is gone for a few days so I can drag the dust into the house ;)

  13. Thanks guys.

And yes, I asked Ryan to delete the dupe thread. Double posted with the HAMB hiccup last night. Also having issues on another forum so it may be my machine?

  14. Tom is an inline sorta guy. We are starting with a Stovebolt. Lots of room to play under the 325 CI limit.

Also making room for Jimmys so Bluto and Rich Fox will still talk to me:D

We are head scratching ass far as trannies go right now.

Trent, I can bring the 235 out there on one if the next 2 weekends. At least get some measurements etc and see what will work.

    will watch this one.
What is the time line for a trial run?

  17. Tom, that sounds great. We can discuss our gameplan over a cold one. I am on call at least one weekend in the next two, I have afternoons free however.

Not planning to run until 2012 unless I get real flush with cash for tires and all the safety gear.

Going to teh salt this year at least once to ask a lot of questions, meet up with several of these guys that are already running and get behind the scenes more than just being a spectator.

If World of Speed happens this fall it would be fun to take the rolling chassis out and get pre-tech'd before we go beyond the point of no return. Samiyam did this and it helped a TON.

What color are you going to paint the carburetors on this one?

Naw, over that, the old touring looks much better after GV had the carbs redone to natural.
