Ok, I've never seen one. Anyone got any pics of a 1964 galaxie with a straight axle? I've been thinking about it for a while, but just don't think it would look right. What you guys think? suggestions?
i love 64 galaxies but dont think one gassed would look all that great , i do however think they look awesome done up early f/x style ,lifted front , no front bumper black steeleys upfront, chrome reverse or cragar s/s's on the back and a teardrop scoop
Haha the last one is just awesome!! I really hope its photo shopped. I believe thats what you call Donked!
Only thing I like is the white and teal two tone. would look good with supremes, whitewalls and on the ground.
I don't think I've ever seen one with a straight axle either... seen a few gasser Impalas, but never a early sixties Ford full size. I think 1960 to 1964 Galaxies look their best with a nose bleed stance (without straight axle) super stock-A/FX look. Full size cars just look too strange to me with a straight axle. Just my .02 cents. Here's a '65 street freak.
That's wrong on many levels. Hell, I could use that for parts for my son's car - minus the street freak silliness.
Aside from all the stickers, that one's not too bad. Still a little high in the front in my opinion, but better than the rest so far. Galaxies seem to only look just right at stock ride height, or just a little below.
You know if it had just the white roof and the black paint it does not look that bad, nothing wrong with a more door car, and if you put a wicked FE engine in it then that makes it even cooler. I think if you get them to high you crossed the line to street freak. But I really like them as F/X or super stock build. Jon
IMO, I think they look their best, woth an almost equal ride height, but taller then stock. I do like seeing the pan, and headers, though.
Well, if nobody else is gonna say it, I guess I had better... Just because you can doesn't mean you should
I agree with everyone else, I think the straight axle will look out of place on a full size car. Attached are pictures of my dad's original 63 1/2 factory lightweight. I forgot what class he raced in in the late 60's but I think it was "C" Gas but i could be wrong...
You can get the repop fiberglass factory light weight parts. I love the FX look, a bit of a nosebleed stance even, never a straight axle on that body. Foolishness is a lot nicer word than I would use. That 4 door is screams "I am a lick windows on the shortbus".
Mine used to sit higher, this is how it sits now with 6 cyl springs in the front and extra leaves out back. These 4 inch torque thrusts and ford steel wheels work ok (15 inch), but most mag wheels stick out too far and the tire rubs when turning and dipping. I dont think a straight axle would look right, but that will be your call. Good luck and have fun! Regards, Tom.
Now this is the way a Ford Galaxie should look! I still wish I had my '63 boxtop! I dig the late 60's Ford GT wheels on the trailer too!
Well here goes I am currently working on a 64 galaxy gasser for a customer and I think it will be pretty badass now im probably a little biased cause all of my own personal cars are gassers but this car im building will look right it will have a straight axle have a nosebleed stance thunderbolt hood scoop with a 390 automatic pie crust slicks and a supercharger isn't out of the question too far. Just as soon as I get the axle back in it I will post some pics
