For Texas I used Ed's Performance Engines and Machine in Abilene Texas.

I use to Super/Pro Gas race a, Big Block Chevy, 40 Willys coupe in the late 70s and Eddie did all my work then. So naturally, for my Hemi, I went back because of the the quality of work I always got.

I also use to teach Auto Tech so I'm working on passing the tourch to my grandson.
We are building a 56 (NE 56) 354 Chry. Hemi.

See build photos and updates are here:

    Ed's Machine website is:
    http://edsmachine.com/

I got my parts from Hot Head's Research, Bob Walker.

Do you have a Hemi under your hood?

Still a lot of holes in this! If you have a machine shop you use for your Early Hemi stuff, send me a PM and I'll add it. OR if you see information that needs to be corrected let me know that too. I have my "EDIT" buttons back so I can fix stuff.

    Thanks folks!

By the way guys! Feel free to add your feedback if you would like! But BE HONEST! I do NOT want drama here!! If you wish to remain anonymous with your comments, PM me your comments and I will add them IN RED below the machine shop listing and your name will NOT be included. I think feedback is important! I have a ruined block because of bad machinig and it really was a nightmare. If I can somehow prevent even ONE person from having to go through that kind of mess, I will feel successful!

Add your comments! Good or bad! Feel free to PM me!

They redo everything from Hemis to air cooled engines to farm tractors... gas or diesel.

Good folks who did my 354.

Does anyone know a good machineshop/builder in the mid-atlantic area (VA, MA, DE)?

Okay! FWEW! I think I'm caught up! Sorry for taking so long getting your recomendations and info into the opening page. Crazy around here.

If I've missed any PLEASE let me know and there are STILL quite a few states with nothing under them. If you live in one of those states and own a Hemi, please help out your fellow early Hemi enthusiest and get me the information. PM's are best.

Thanks everyone!! BTTT! Let's get this thing filled out!

    Just saw this! Sorry!

But of COURSE! :D After tangling with a broken 331 truck motor (now a doorstop until I can have it sleeved), I have an early 331 in my Model A (no hood though, sorry). Couple other early 331's laying around also, that don't have homes yet.

Thanks for adding Ed's, and have fun passing on your Hemi fun to the youngin'!

Bumpin' this up... PLEASE take a look at this and see if there are any Hemi friendly machine shops that are not on the list for your state.

Anyone have any suggestions for Northern California? Very surprised none have popped up.

As always, PM me or email me with your machine shop and I'll add it. THANKS!

TTT because when I saw this the first time I saw HEMI TECH and ignored the rest.

This is an awesome list of machine shops.

I'm in columbus ohio, found another thread that listed some places but no phone numbers.

Now I find this that has phone numbers and I'd completely missed it.

Maybe someone else will notice it and get use out of it too.

Tis the season to be buying used parts and getting them checked out!!! :D

Link to more machine shops in Columbus

dunno if they do early hemi but M&M head service in Deleware was recommended by a few guys. Their number is

    m&m head service
    740-369-6442
    30 Reid Street
    City: Delaware
    State: Ohio
    ZIP: 43015

I'm waiting for a call back. I'm not surprised a good place would be too busy to get the phone. UPDATE: they called back, super nice, $36/head to tank, disassemble, mag, and reassemble. Sounds like a deal!

    for reference the previously mentioned
    Fowler Engines
    614-258-2924
    3021 Switzer Ave, 43219

Seemed knowledgeable on the phone, charge $60 (per head?) to clean and inspect (no magnaflux) a set of vortec heads for me, just to give you some idea of prices.
    -------
    Randy's Automotive Machine Shop Inc - (614) 235-9970

    4029 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43213

hot tank $45 / head check valves surface receeding valves warped or racks
    ------
    Beach Performance
    10960 Johnstown Road
    New Albany, OH 43054-9604
    614-855-2143

Bob Beach owner-heard he's the best in town
He's been machining longer than I've been alive and has plenty of early hemi experience
took me half an hour on the interweb to get his number! Nice guy, wants $50 to mag and inspect my vortechs which sounds great, he gets the job.

  18. Seriously - nobody in the mid-Atlantic? There's nobody in MD-VA-NC that can do decent work on Poly or Hemi engines? I find that hard to believe! Then again... maybe there's a niche that needs filling?!?!

Also! If you guys sent me something and it didn't get added, let me know. I had a couple emails that got discarded with information before it got put up.

Built winning ARCA motors for years, won championship couple of years ago. Does everything from our big nitrous motors, to blown alcohol hemis, to bitchin 392s. The best shop in the midwest in my opinion. Perfection.

  26. Scoot contact Kerry I'm pretty sure he'll tell you who not to use. Last we spoke he was pretty animate about it. I did hook him up with Don Mann here in town, he's not a hemi specialist per say but he can handle anything you need done from the pain rail to the heads.

    Thank you! Changed that website...

    Thank man!

Kerry!!! If you're reading this, send me a PM with details of your experience with one of the shops on our list.

I deleted the website address from the their listing. Maybe those people don't build Hemis anymore??:D

Please take a moment and look through the states below to see if there's anything that can be added!

    States still empty:

    Alaska (fat chance, probably)
    Arkansas
    Connecticut
    Delaware
    Georgia
    Hawaii
    Idaho

Illinois (REALLY!!!?? Nobody in Illinois does machining on Hemis?? COME ON!)
    Iowa
    Kansas
    Kentucky
    Maryland
    Mississippi
    Montana
    Nebraska
    New Mexico

North Carolina (another one that surprised me)
    Rhode Island
    South Carolina
    Utah
    Virginia
    West Virginia
    Wyoming

Post the info right here on the thread or send it to me in a PM. Reminder of what info is helpful...

    - Machine shop name
    - Address
    - Phone number
    - contact person (if specific)
    - email and/or website
    - any feedback positive OR negative. Keep it short and to the point. (optional)
