Great story:rolleyes:,but if you new Jack this would not concern you.He has sanded on the car for three days straight,so I figure thats a good start in the right direction.Don't worry we'll take care of this one:cool:

Oh yeah, and thanks to Javier for raising a kid who can appreciate the value of bringing something back from the dead.

All the kids around here are slapping fart cans on econo boxes and calling it "wrenching".

I agree with you. Lets not pass our passion on to the next generation. We should take our hard earned cars and trade secrets to the grave!

The kid should push the Box in the back yard and get a new Hyundai with five years of car payments when he is 16. That outta be real easy to drive and comfortable too. Just think the payments will teach him responsibility....... He wont learn crap from building his first ride with his own hands then cruising it to high school.

The only problem I foresee for this very fortunate kid is that he is going to have to carry a stick to beat all the hot chicks off with when his ride is done-

What a great story! He's such a doll! Those pics of him by the car when you got it home are priceless, I'm sure you'll treasure them for a long time.

Way to be a great dad, there aren't enough of them out there these days.

So, Jack gets the car of his dreams and builds big gun biceps at the same time sounds win/win to me..besides the S10 clip we might use has power steering so don't sweat it..

This story RULES!!! My pop's gave me a Model A sedan when I turned 12 and I traded it for a Model A coupe that I chopped 6 inches when I was 13 and I still have the car stashed. Very cool that you guys are helping the little ones.......from what I remember as a kid......I didn't know much, but my pops taught me how to gas weld and being a kid that was very cool.........my mom didn't think that it was that cool with me getting dirty and all, but we didn't tell her alot.......haha.

Would the shoebox be a good candidate for a Jag IFS/IRS swap?
Seems to me, based on what I've seen and read here on the HAMB that it would be quicker, cheaper, easier,,, and the end result would be far superior [handling and breaking] to an s-10 clip....... Just saying.

Here come the progress pics!Well over the last two weeks Jack and I have stripped a ton of top rust off this car.We also removed bumpers, most of the trim and grill. With all the work we've discovered our problem areas, but nothing discouraging.

Rad! The relationship that will be built between dad and son will far outlast the shoebox.
