Man, talk about 'biting off more than you can chew'! But, you're 'chewing' right along. It's great to see the heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears you're putting into this car!

BTW, Eastwood should be paying you for 'product placement'!

Ha ha...I didnt ment it by that way.I guess this was a bit(just a bit)worse than mine,but i've seen a lot worse than this one.Our project cars in here are really bad,except those which are shipped from the dry areas of states...
So,keep up the good work!

 

Great build, I just read from top to bottom with both my kids next to me. They were really interested in your pics. I can't wait to start on mine with them. I am subscribed, can't wait to see more.

Ya know, You could just do a 2 door conversion

 

The amount of work you guys have in this car is amazing, most people would have let this one go... Makes my 52 look like a simple project.. You've got to make sure it stays in the family for a long long time!

There's a Wisenheimer in every crowd, right? Man, the things I have learned on this project!!
Which brings up another item on Billy's (and my) wish list. We would love to chop the top, but no way I'd tackle a 4 door. So, like my Dad would say . . . If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped!!

Hard to imagine ever parting with something which you've spent so much time on. Or like Freiburger says . . . you know a car is yours when you've touched every screw, rivet, bolt, and weld on it. Thanks.

 

Got an OT engine off ebay. Went to north Philly to pick it up, good excuse to spend the weekend with my daughter and granddaughter in DC.

Edit: removing all reference to the OT engine.

 

Of course, had to change motor mounts.

 

Is that yard like the ones seen on TV where you get everything wit the engine from the ECM and harness along with the engine?

 

And had to hack off part of the left side frame for clearance.
By the way, have not seen anyone else use this, but a diamond blade on a 7" grinder will chew/burn through steel in a hurry. Have no plasma cutter and it's faster and easier than the oxy-acetylene rig. Of course, diamond blades are not cheap, but already had one from construction.

 

And had to change out the tranny tailpiece.

Of course, Billy picked out the color. Will be two tone a la Street Rodder '52 Chevy. Their green is our blue. White will be pearl white. But our A pillar will be white.

 

looks like a great build, but i have a question

shouldnt the front suspension be welded in? looks like its just bolted in 4 spots aroudn the frame and their not even grade 8 bolts? just curious thanks

Body is bolted to frame in 20 places, 10 each side.

 

Inner fender part to mock up radiator housing so I can check for fan clearance. Want an electric fan.

Figured I don't need to re-engineer the bolt-on MII IFS. There are thousands of them out there from various manufacturers. Can't remember how many bolts each side or grade of bolt, would have to look it up. The body is bolted on the frame, the engine and tranny are bolted to the frame, the rear leaf springs, shocks, and rear end are all bolted on, the seats are bolted down, the gas tank is bolted in place . . .
