Hi - When I was ten years old in 1977 a neighbour had a 59 cadillac which was quite a sight on a UK council housing estate - I fell in love with american cars at that moment. It was 30 years later, that inspired by my own 8 year old son's desire to own a V8 that I bought my first american - a 76 corvette - all I could afford. We quickly realised that we loved the experience but really wanted something older so bought a 54 GMC Step Side Pick up within a few months. We mildly rodded this with fenton headers, dual exhaust, offenhauser valve cover/matching air filter and beauty rings - other than that it was factory standard and drove like a 56 year old pick up which was fun! With so many years missing out, we wanted to experience a fifties car next so currently we own a 54 Mercury Montery Hard Top - its been in the UK since 1956! So far we have changed the stock wheel trims for Beauty Rings and Spider hubcabs, the head lights are frenched and it has a white, tuck and roll interior. Currently looking into lowering 3 inches all around. Then we are going to shave all the excess chrome and add full length lakes pipes so we have an authentic mid fifties custom - can't wait. Moving forward from there we would really like a Model A - our plans would be to remove fenders, keep the 4 banger in it and add period parts for a really simple but authentic hot rod - see profile picture - will have to see how the cash goes!
