custom trim is something you used to see a lot of. its too bad you dont see more of it today. great job guys. i am building a 54 dodge gasser. the trim is in great shape, and i couldnt bring myself to cut it up. it would make great trim for a custom. if someone is interested in it, i will give it to you. you just pay for shipping. send me pm. here is a shot of it. this shot was taken about 7 years ago, the door trim was in the trunk. Mine...55 Chevy 4 door trim with the rear section of 55 Buick trim turned upside down..the look was inspired by the Alcorn Merc...

A couple more...I really the look of the 53 Buick trim on this shoebox. A very overused treatment given a little different look due to the angle and placement...and of course my friend Ray Soff's Connecticut Yankee wearing 54 Buick station wagon trim....

And more..my friend, thesupersized, runs 58 Plymouth Savoy trim, and other buddy, merc-o-madness, uses 58 Ford trim..

My brother, 55-C gas, runs 54 Olds side trim, and 56 Buick "hood" trim, as in portholes...

    We like the shoeboxes...

53 Buick or 50 Merc? anyway rocker trim has been shortened.
Also door top trim has been shortened & modified.
I like the 58 Ford on the Chevy.

That 55 Chevy is a serious eye catcher! I love when tri-5s are customized and are out of the norm

This is truly "custom" side trim.
That is, it was hand formed from what is called "half oval" steel stock. Heated and bent with a torch, and the ends hand filed to a rounded point. The door edges were cut at 45* angles, like stock side trim was. The joining ends were hand filed to fit tightly next to the adjoining piece. Then studs welded to the backsides, and then a trip to the plater's.
Lots of work, but you can get any look you like from doing it this way.

I see alot of Buick side but this one along with the pontiac window trim flows the best. Good eye Sun Down.
