hey guys, just staring on a 37 chevy pickup project, I am going full fenderd kind of 70,s look. my question is whats a good frame to use thats close to my pickup, original was 112 in wb is a car frame useable? thanks for any advice
Weren't car and pickup frames from 35 to 40 all the same? Failing that have a look at these two threads: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287382&highlight=ranger+frames http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274702
Ot for sure man but dare I say Toyota, or Mazda. IF yer frame is not useable. I have done it with a few frameless cars
I know this is true about Fords, but what about Chevy's (I'm not familiar with them)? Seeing this guys screen name and your avatar, maybe he needs a little more information.
112” wheel base is only one measurement to consider. Just remember not all late model frames will fit the width of your fenders. Nothing worse than spending a bunch of bucks and finding that your fenders won't bolt on because the tires won't clear the fenders when turning.
Hmm good point! i didn't even notice his screen name. Assumed he meant 37 Ford truck. You know what happens when you assume.
Greetings! My '38 cab was from a one-ton truck, found out pickup frames of that vintage are hard to find so I didn't know what I was going to do until one day I threw the cab up on a 48-54 pickup frame just to keep it off of the ground and found out the cab would fit if I swapped the body mounts, Hope this helps, Mike.
you could use a s-10 frame and the Original frame is the same on these ford car 35-40 ford truck 35-41
here are the numbers for my 40 chevy pickup. overall lenght=166 wheelbase=113 1/2 width in rear =40 width in front=28 all are for stock fenders and grille, iam sure you can find something close to home . good luck & keep it posted. ART MORRISON.COM
Here's some Chevy wheel base info. I would try for a Chevy frame, they are very well built. http://www.carnut.com/specs/gen/chv30.html
Not on Chevys, car and pickup frames are completely different (car is a "top hat with a plate on the underside, pickups are a C channel. They are also different widths. I have seen a couple 37 Chev PUs on S10s that turned out real well.
