Well I guess there was some forward progress today so I will start the build thread now. Picked the old girl up this summer as a winter project, ground is white, so it must be time. Thought I would try to get something accomplished before x-mas.
Plan is a chop top, channel, loose the fenders, inline 6 (230) 4 speed trany.

Edit: After posting pics I've been corrected it actually a 1931 OLDS.

Yup those fenders look good! I'd leave em too!

  8. That's not a '30 Chevy... it's a '31 Oldsmobile.

Ya not a 30 chevy, all 29 and 30 chevy coupes were 3 windows.

  23. It's definatley a '31 Oldsmobile. I have a '32 Oldsmobile, same body lines. Also, I looked at your pic album and saw the '31 Olds dash, another clue is the long hood, chevy's are shorter. But my Olds also came with a '31 Chevy grille on it. I think just because they were much more common if they were ever damaged.

You are right on the 29 3 windows, but for 30 they did release a late edition of the 5 window model, that was mostly an early version of the 31 chevy 5 window. Most of the side trim design for the 5 window 30 is the same car as a 31.

Well when I thought I had a Chevy I had a plan, might still be the same plan. Already bought the 230 inline for it and spent a pile of cash at Langdons for the dual carbs and offy intake, so although there may be a lot of cool Olds engines to roll with I think I am committed, will see.
Another thing, bought a disk brake kit for a 30 Chevy, hope that is still gonna work.

Edit: Olds and Chevy's shared a 230 engine not that it matters but good to know.
