Stretch of road in the Utah desert, BMW M3, 144mph, and that's all there was... I did steal, ummm, I mean borrow, my dads Firebird when I was 16, had it up to 130 or so, I got scared and backed out when I realized those bright red things that were flying by to my right were tailights of cars I was passing...my 12 year old brother was in the passenger seat laughing his ass off...he had no idea how close we were...
140 indicated in '91 Toyota Mr2 Turbo. Later Gen 3 engine/trans swap, Greddy intercooler, Full 3" catless exhaust, etc. It had more, but I didn't. For what it's worth, those things are not fart can ricer cars, they are fun little sports cars.

I rented a Dodge Viper in Vegas once. Got it up to 165 (according to it's speedo...) out in the desert. I've always wondered how accurate the speedo was. I was only in 5th gear, and it had plenty to go, but I couldn't gauge distance on approaching vehicles anymore and it freaked me out so I backed off. My buddy that was with me was NOT a car guy, and it scared him so bad that he couldn't tell if he was terrified or thrilled. He quickly bought a Corvette Z06. He's still not a car guy, but he has $$ and likes to go fast! lol..... I ruined him for life! I hear people tell stories about doing 200+mph on their bullet bikes, or going 190 in their car, etc etc etc.... After going out to Bonneville and seeing what these cars AND bikes have to go through to hit 200, I really question people when they talk about speed. My truck speedo is off about 3 mph at 85. I wonder how far "off" a bullet bike speedo is when it's showing 180+..... I'm guessing these speedo's are probably way off.
My wife and I went 205 mph with the air conditioner on at a test track in Barcelona Spain in a MB Mclaren.
I had a 86 dodge daytona turbo z up to 106 with no t-tops, verified by the Cowley County sherriff who wrote me a ticket. Also have a 70 roadrunner 440-6bbl up to who knows, came out of nice slow curve at 120 (per the speedo), had plenty of pedal left so floored it. Kept it that way for a couple of miles. Not sure of the exact speed as I was too scared shitless to look at the speedo, fast enough the vent windows shut...and thats no shit. Jeff Myers (finkd) can verify that one since he was shitting...err sitting in the passengers seat..
140 on the back of a Honda Goldwing and 160 in my 68 Corvette road race car! Also did multipal 360's from 140 to 0 in the Vette, scary, didn't hit a thing!
111 on the way back from the pits at Bonneville in my coupe...when we hit the "soft" stuff. Whoooooohooooo!!
In the quarter-mile, I did a [email protected] mph in my '66 Dodge Coronet 500, back in 1998 at Ark City, KS. Only time that car ever saw the 12's... Far as highway, that is between two cars. A 1970 Plymouth Superbird on US 50 between Grand Junction and Delta, Colorado in 1977, I drove the 440 4-speed car, with 3.55 gears, to an indicated 158 mph on a straight stretch. If it was ten or so mph off, I don't care. It was FAST! In Germany, in 1990 I drove a '88 BMW 735i at a bit over 300 km/h on the Autobahn between Aachen and Cologne - translated, that is right at 184 mph. That is literally traveling in the rocket lane! And, yes, people DO go that fast there! Haven't had the pleasure of driving for a pass at Bonneville or El Mirage...yet!
Considering the Boeing 747-400 which is the latest version in service, is among the fastest airliners in service with a high-subsonic cruise speed of Mach 0.85 (567 mph or 913 km/h). 850 km/h, sure. 850 mph...BS.
Driving, 140ish (130 MPH speedo) in my '74 Camaro Z28. Passenger, 155 (160 MPH speedo) with my brother in his '70½ Camaro SS.

I dont post much but the fastest I have been in a car was 155 indicated in my vette. On a yamaha r1 I saw 178 on the speedo. Who knows what the actual speed was but I felt less scared on the bike
100% official. After a lot of reading of the SCTA rulebook I built it. Theres nothing on it that even "stretches" the rules. Bonneville 500 pushrod gas and fuel record holder. I have actually done 140 mph down the straight away of a 1/4 mile dirt track. That all actually works out to doing a quarter mile, turning 4 corners, doing 140 down the straight aways in a total time of 12.92 seconds. Thats in a super dirt latemodel with a 434 cu. in. SB2 that made 797 hp on the dyno. Talk about some white knuckles.
165 MPH on the highway, 346 cid OT LS1 full boltons and heads and cam. 145 in the 1/4. I've had the cruise on in my TBSS on at 120 in the middle of the night coming back from Memphis.
I was scared to death being a passenger when the speedometer indicated 145 in a friend's '57 Fury, and again when another friend racked up 75 miles in 35 minutes in a '59 Buick, because they were both stock cars in 1960. However, driving a Winston Cup car at 151 mph laps around Texas Motor Speedway was great fun, and there was no fear on my part. I would have gladly driven faster if they had let me.
167 mph (clocked on raydar) down the front straight at Ontario (the old track) speed way in a c-open (twin engine) enduro (lay down) kart.
