Cool engine choice! But I wouldn't section the grill, that's for channeled cars, when you can't lower it. I would leave it stock height and just drop it. Part of the appeal is the length of the shell and insert!

I don't plan on sectioning the grill but I would like to lower the whole assembly, the issue I have is that the radiator is a walker that came with the car.. those things aren't cheap, and I was hoping to re-use it... they tell me the only way to shorten it is to re-core it and it needs two more outlets added for the flathead, to make a long story short it it all cost's money and I was just looking for the most cost effective way to get-errr down, I could move the brackets on the radiator but the lower tank will hit with only a 1/2" dropp, who knows I may just have to order a new radiator a little short than the stock height one I have...

  6. There is a nice V12 powered hot rod in the Garlits Museum.

Stock engine for now....you can buy aftermarket heads and intakes, again they are pricey!!! I think I am going to modify the intake I have, for 3 carbs, mill the heads and have the cam reground plus the headers you see in the pics... All I really want is a cruiser I don't need or expect this motor to be the "fastest in town"

  17. You may want to install an electric fan to eliminate the issue with the original fan location in relation to you radiator. You can see how I did my 32 using a 1948 Lincoln V12. If you need any help on your build feel free to call me anytime. Visit my website to see my build

Yeah Ken Austin makes some really nice intakes. I had one of his 2 x 2 Lincoln V12 intakes and it was a work of art. Finned aluminum heads don't hurt either.

Please get someone who knows what they're doing to record the sound that thing makes and do a you-tube for us. Commander Cody was the first thing I thought of too. I've got it somewhere, and a wind up Brunswick to play it on.

Arkie Shibley's Mountain Dew Boys made the song famous

but I never was clear as to how much truth there was to the lyrics

"I was driven that Model A"

    ????

Does that mean that this car is/was the one owned by Arkie Shibley??

    confused

I'm not sure who Arkie Shibley is... I have a June 1990 issue of Rod and Custom magazine with a big article about the "hot rod Lincoln". It says it was written(1950)recorded(1955)released(1957) and made famous by Charlie Ryan(top 100 for 6 months). Then repoped by Johnny Bond(1960) Comander Cody(1972) and Asleep at the Wheel(1988). It also says that the car was built in the early 50's as the song was being written, The "race" actually took place in the 1941 Lincoln Continetal that he owned in the 40's smashed, and it became the "donner" vehicle that he built the Model a with. Hope this helps....
