INEXPENSIVE welding blankets at HF

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Nov 24, 2010.

  1. I saw on another site that HF was blowing out welding blankets at his local branch.....in CANADA. Well, I called mine in SoCal....and same thing. 5x5 foot for under $4, I got a 6x8 foot for under $6 ($6.18 with tax!), and they have an 8x8 foot for under $8.

Have you recieved one yet? For that price I`m thinking a single sheet of automotive fiberglass with the edges sewed up?

  3. Yes, a 6x8 footer. It's not to bad. Maybe a little thinner than the one I spent $50 on. Being thinner might make it more manageable protecting an interior of a car while welding

  4. Didn't know HF had any locations in Canada.
    None listed on their site.

I have one with a bunch of holes burnt through it. I wouldn't depend on them to keep cherries off your interior. I usually back them with a sheet of aluminum.

  9. Maybe fold it over once or twice for the more sensitive areas? My expensive one has many holes in it too

Funny about the HF smell. It is either "old goat" or "structure fire". Makes you wonder where they source the raw material they make that stuff from.

My HF blankets REALLY stunk of horse shit. So much so that flies swarmed my garage for the first month I had them. Is that what an old goat smells like? If so I will have to be sure to never get an old goat.

I took mine back without even using it. The stuff they treat them with is a known cancer-causing chemical.
