Will Porter make a quiter (I know.... WTF..weenie, wuss...all that, whatever) Muffler? I needed the size of the porters but quiter, so had to go elsewhere. I like loud enough to hear the engine, but quiet enough the wife doesnt bitch and can appreicate the vehicle. No, its not shiney, it was raining... I still got a long way to go.
You can hear a '56 Sunliner Yblock with Porters here: http://www.portermufflers.com/porter/video.html#
Bought a set at carlisle this past summer. Put them on the wifes 50 pontiac streamliner. Friggin perfect sound for the car right out of the box. I am taking my smithys off my 36 truck and putting porters on. By the way muffler location will change the tone of the exhaust as will tialpipe diameter.
This is all we have at the moment. It's from a 1951 brochure. But they are pretty much the same today!
Once you get past the sound of the blower/engine, and around to the back, you can hear what porters soundlike. 2 1/2"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdE8pGtUv4w BTW, I got the longest ones they sell...I didn't want them to sound rappy...
I think these will be my next buy. I have only heard great things about them. Also they are made in MN, Bonus!
I have a set on the way right now. I can wait to get my '65 Studebaker Cruiser together and listen to my new exhaust system. The car, being a '65, came stock with a McKinnon (Canadian GM) 283. We have kept that engine with a few mods. It will be a different kind of four door. I doubt many Studebaker Cruisers have Porters on them. It is fun to be a bit different!
Love that Bonneville! I looked in your profile for an album but didn't see one. I actually found your second video through YouTube, featuring some sexy dude modeling a red/black flannel coat.
So, stainless and free flowing? I also go by that last name, so I've got to have me some for my '29 AA. You got any stickers for the window?
Cant believe I'm even doing this, but I met the guys from PORTER at the NSRA Nats in Louisville. Nice guys and nice product! Keep it up gentlemen!
Hey come by my booth at either Hot Rod & Restoration or the next Louisville and you can say nice things about Me and the Smithy's Too! (or not) Sorry - couldn't resist
I'll tell ya that comment just earned a point for Cherrybomb in my book! Sound like you guys are gentlemen over there too. ~ Carl
CHERRYBOMB will be attending both HRR and Louisville this year, so I might just do that. Oh wait I did stop by your booth in Louisville. I have my Pertronix and Thunderbird exhaust catalog right here.
when I put the proper duals back on the off topic town car, what was Ford thinking? half a dual exhaust? they will get porters, I want it to sound nice not annoying glasspack drone, but it's too quiet right now, you should be able to hear a 302
According to Porter Man, they are of a spiral/coil design and can be mounted either way. Its a no brainer dude! Even I can't mess it up
I'm going to get myself a pair of Porters for my birthday.. I'm getting the 26" steel Porters.. The exhaust will make a nice winter project...
