Let's post any old pictures from the the "Detroit Autorama" on this thread,... the older the better,... I'll start with a few from the first one in 1953,... Over the decades, I have seen a LOT of cameras in peoples hands, If you were one of those people ,..... let's see what you have. :D

As some of you know, I am in the MHRA, that has put on Autorama sense it's inception in 1953,... I know there must be some great pictures from this great show out there,... so, let's put them all in one place,... and what better place than the HAMB ! :)

I've got alot of photos starting from the mid 70's that I took at the Detroit Autorama. Will need to scan before I can post. I was into muscle cars and boys asses at the time....both of which might not go over too well here on the HAMB.:D

Hey Harms Way.... That 53 show wasn't at COBO Hall from what I can tell by the pictures... Where was it held? Great Thread by the way.

It was held at the U-of-D Field House,.. It had a few venues, including the old Armory building.

I was gonna question the location of the third pic, too. Didn't want to show my lack of knowledge. I thought maybe the old Olympia, but I couldn't remember what it looked like inside. All the pics I've taken are within the last 5 years....yawn:eek:. I'll see if I've got some good ones from the basement.

Here are a few from the 50th.
Frank Mack's Roadster, Tommy Foster roadster, & Romango,.. were all there 50 years earlier,...

Un-restored,... Franks Roadster looked good 50 years later,... same paint, plating, & interior,....

This is me almost 10 years ago, with a very dear old friend,.... As hard as he tried, Frank was just to Ill to make it down to see the old girl,... (what a shame)

Each club that makes up the MHRA was asked to make up a showcase for the 50th., It was the honor of myself and a few others in the club to put this together,... Yeah, once again, that ugly critter next to it is yours truly,.. In this picture there was about 30% salt and 70% pepper,.... now those numbers are reversed.

    they don't call 'em GMB's for nuthin'...

  29. The Mack roadster and the Romango were the two cars that really hooked me on cars. I was there at the first Autorama and these old pictures bring some beautiful memories back to me. Detroit, and Dearborn where I lived, were cool places to grow up in those days. That 40 Mercury convert still lights my fire. Bill Hines was a master in lead and black. No telling how much that Merc weighed.

I don't remember the year,... (But it was when the Person Bros. coupe was on display with Hot Rod Magazine)

Two legends in there own right,.... My ol' Pal Frank Mack, and the Person Brothers coupe,.. He told me at this show,... "I hope someday, somebody will care enough about my Roadster to be able to treat it like this" Little did we know at that time Bruce Meyer would eventually own it. Frankie,... you got your wish !

Here's Frank and Wally at the Detroit Autorama Circle of Champions Brunch,....

The two love birds,... Frank & Marie, the Day Frank was inducted into the ISCA Circle of Champions,.. Just before Frank passed, He gave me his COC jacket,...

Going back a few years,... Here is Frank at our clubs 40th anniversary, 1991, with his Roadster, and just two trophy's of the mountain of trophy's he had won with his car,...
These were from the first Detroit Autorama,... "Best of Show" & "Best Engineered"
