Is the hamb responsible for $500 heavy axles?!

I have watched these things climb in price ever since i joined the HAMB, anyone else out there think thats a lil too much? Oh, and $700 32 truck?! grills?!

 

They are that price from people I know that don't touch the internet as well.

 

The grille for my 38 pick up was between 700 and 1200 for a super clean on the web bid site in 2007. If you need it and will pay the price YOU and I are responsible for the price going up.

Why would you want a heavy axle when it'll just slow you down? Jim - what's your best authorized deal on that axle in you avatar - after having a buddy follow me for 3 hours with a nice chromed axle I think I am ready to convert to chromed. I couldn't tell if it was heavy or not from 50 yards.

 

If anything, it's the first two bidding-war fools on eBay that set the precedent. Plus, they were only made one year... supply and demand.

Original 1932 Ford parts have never been cheap and if you think they are expensive now wait another 5 years and see where the prices are.

Is it a coincidence there is a nice slightly pitted one in the classifieds right now for 400 clams?????

 

If i had $400.00 mad cash i would buy the axle in the classifides just to hang on the wall/hoard like all other 32 parts that people have....art takes many forms.

 

Sold a 32 'Heavy' at Hershey this year..had been keeping it for 30 years...but I bought a 37 Mopar 'double- dip' complete and a mid 20's Chrysler (Franklin look alike) axle and still had $300 left . 32 Ford is Ok but after a visit to a local car show, I must have seen close to a hundred 32 Roadsters and 3 Windows.... every body has one.....32 Mopars and 32 Chevy's are unique!!

 

Just like racing.....................if you can't run with the big dogs..............stay on the porch. NO one is entitled to a '32 Ford but your welcome to compete for one if you've got the balls...........and the $$$$$$$"s. I was almost ashamed to admit what I paid for the first 3-4 '32's I bought but after jumping in the deep end a few times you harden to the fact you might have not been born with enough brain cells to cross the street safely.

i'm not sure it's really supply and demand. look whats happening at barret, jackson. every day stock, nothing fancy cars from the 60's-70's selling for 60-80k. give me a break. i think a lot of the price increase is due to people out there with more money than brains that think hot rods are the "new shiny" toy. they have too much money and nothing to spend it on. hopefully it's a fad for them and in time the prices might come down. just like all the other fads.

 

I don't have to prove anything....especially seeing that they are making steel repop's in China and Sweden now....like I said...everyone has one..... !

Definately an aftermarket axle. I'd rather have a dropped original...but I'm an axle snob.

I bought Chrysler tube axle at Hershey this year too! Sure would like to know what Model and Year used them around 1928. Hot item for a '30's Dirt Car build/restoration. I'm looking for a '32 Heavy for my Roadster, I give credit to the Rolling Bones for making the '32 Heavy popular. Like the looks of the front ends on their builds and will be coping the look on mine.

 

I payed 50 for mine 2 years ago but it came with the wishbone and was complete from drum to drum

#4, E&J Headlights, Halibrand Q/C, Kennmont Brakes, 1932 Ford "K" members, Wishbones, firewalls, frames, bodies, titles, (Every part basically) The HAMB isn't responsible for the prices on those escalating. So,.... what's your point ?

#5 Buy the new reproduction one. if you want one, and cant caught up the cabbage.

 

Did it cost a lot to have the chrome removed?
