Hi.

I have finally getting the right parts together!?
I have gotten to be very patient while waiting for all the parts needed.
Crower finally got my lifters ready, and i will get them next weekend,
almost xmas:)!

I have had alot of help from fellow HAMB`ers, espesially Bored&stroked,
thanks Dale!

For now, the Flathead is like this:

1988 French Flathead
Ported an reworked aprox like your first in this tread+some of my own ideas.
New home made HQ. mains with girdle (Baron style)
Moldex crank, 4 1/8 stroke.
Crower custom billet rods.
Kustom Ross pistons, reinforced for more load/pressure. Coated.
Total Seal gapless rings.
Manley Hi flow ss. valves. 1.6 inn. 1.56 ex. Will be undercut.
Isky 185G springs, with Titanium retainers.
Turned down stock valve guides
And the Crower roller
Reworked Offy .400 heads
Home made blower inntake, from a Offy quad.
A GMC 4-71 blower, pullys for 7% / 18% / 25% / 38% overdrive
Hilborn 2 port fuel injection. for Methanol.
4 th exhaused port out of the inntake.
Vertex Magneto to fire this thing up:D!?

Manually shifted C4 with transbrake.

4.10 rear end ratio.

Have the Hurst 10" slicks now, but will order a set of M&H 12.00x16",
for the 11x16 American Mags.

That sure is a good looking crank, thats one piece on my build that I hope I don't end up regretting since I went with a scat crank, what kind of specs are on the cam? the crower roller I'm using is a .460 lift with a 280 duration and 110 lobe seperation, I'm wondering what your lobe seperation is and was it ground for the blower in mind? Good luck with it sounds like it should be a screamer.

5. Looking fantastic! I'm going to pop for a Moldex crank for one of my 'special' projects - looks like a nice piece. Given all the work and $$$ that go into these things, it is nice to have as strong of a lower end as possible.

Good luck and keep us posted! Can't wait to hear the 'initial fire' sound/video :D

Dale

6. Lookin nasty - damn that roller has some serious lookin lobes. Then again, you HAVE been talkin to Dale -that kinda explains that !!

More progress pix...pls !!

I was wondering what kinda coin are we lookin at for a custom Moldex crank and what options can they come with?

Cool project Fenderless. Here is some inspiration for you. I snapped a couple of pics of this FED running at Brainerd this summer. He was running consistent 7's. The motor is setup for both nitro and methanol.

He was running an original block filled with aluminum, and then the 4th exhaust pipe was cut out of the top. The owner claimed the top side exhaust pipe was good for a couple of tenths as it allowed for much better flow, but required a very custom intake.

Good Luck and keep up the good work.

Thanks guys:)

I will keep you uppdatet.

I really dream about fiering this thing up:)
The first yellow edition, sounded healthy, but did not pull hard enought.

The Slider is really something to stretch for, but that thing has totally hommade heads, bigger volume and bigger valves.
The Martin & Rea dragster is maybe something to aim for, but i would be very happy to get in the low 9`s.

Rechromed front is ready in the end of the week:)

Here are some of the history that i have found. not mutch!

The rail was bought on a swapmeet in MN ca 1988.
It was restored and put together by Don Groff.
He ran it withe BB mopar engine, then took it apart painted it yellow.
He did a great job, putting a injected Hemi in the rail. very nice:)!
It did not run with this engine, so it was sold without engine and tranny.
(the tranny was later put in the restored Hawaian funny)
I think the engine is in his current dual engine dragster.

After he sold it, new owner painted it purple and put in the flathead.
I bought it from a museum in Florida. Engine was OK, but i don`t think it had been run mutch, so we ended up putting the blower/Hilborn on it.
Painted it yellow again.

Her are some name that has been linked to it, Ray Hall, Connie Swingle, TC Lemmon, Art The Dart.....
I really do not know this for a fact.
But i like it:)!?

The body is from Kellison, it has Borrani 19" front runners...

If anyone have any stories on the car, or could help finding out more about it.. I really would be happy:D!

Here's a pic of the GSTA twin engine dragster that Don Groff restored. He is a master fabricator. When I was trying to find out if Walt Niesen owned your dragster, it never occurred to me that Don had once owned it. Glad you found out so much history.
Don is standing behind the engines, wearing the red cap.

Thanks for posting pictures of the freight-train:)

Some more information that i got:
"Ray Hall purchased this dragster in the late 60's and sold it in the late 70's to a man named Al Eckard who updated the cage", " Ray Hall ran the car in the southeast divison under the name of Climax. He once had a 380 engine which National Dragster referred to as the "snub nose 38 dragster".<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Really don`t know, since ny dragster is longer. Don said it was longer, and he shortend it

The guy who sold it to me, claimed it was published on the web under;
www.ancientdragracing.com and www.nastalgicdragracing.com ?
Anybody know if any of these adresses?

Thanks! I will post more pictures soon.
We just had a build meeting, whent through the engine and chassis.
My cheif mech. got a long list with to-do things:D!

A question, has anybody used locking nuts on the adjusting bolts on the roller lifters? Found out that my set of French hollow lifters had bolts that fitted the
new Crower lifters, so thhis might be sorted out!!??.

Also if anybody has used copper as intake gasket?
All replacement intake gaskets are to small, as i have made the ports bigger.

Copper works really well. Most drag cars ran it back in the day. Rick Schnell runs copper on the Slider (and can still push it out the sides).

Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys:)
I will then go for copper.
Last evening i got some good working hours, did final match-porting and drilled the slots for the rollerlifters. Also found out that i had the adjustingbolts for the rollerlifters, (Crower don`t supply them when ordering a set). So now it`s just to pack it together, and send it to the
machine-shop:)
Her are some pictures of it, nothing new, just had to try to copy what everybody has done before me. I have just added some small stuff of my own, kept a litle more materiell here and there, just to be safe, as we are going for alot of pressure:).
Carl, look under the valvecovers....:D

28. good looking job Fenderless, looks like you spent a lot of time on the block.......

29. This is likely a noob question but...

Why is it that on a lot of FED's does the front right wheel have a fairing (or disk...whatever you call it)? Is this for some aerodynamic advantage?
