No, it's a unidentified over rider bar which i cut the ends and mounted dummy lights ( reversed ) and i also cut the ends to put lenses for turn signals.

I meant overrider bar. I couldn't remember what they're called. I think it might be '53 Chevy. Looks like the one on the rear of my '53. Either way, it's a great idea that I never thought of.

Thanx guys!!! It feels like such a long time ago.........:)

I would probably approach the metal work a little different now, but I'm very happy on how it came out!!! I do love the front end on my car....My favorite part of the car actually!!!!

    Thank you...Means a lot!!!!! :)

Here's a pic with the extra teeth on my 52 grill.

I didn't do it, it was already on the car when I bought it.

Lots of talent here for sure. So does anyone still run a 49 grill? I am thinking of just adding a few more teeth to mine as you don't see the originals anymore because everyone has gone for the kustom grill. I also could be in the market for some nice driver quality original stuff.

does anyone know if the 53 grill will bolt on or is sheetmetal surgery required. I prefer the look of a rounder surround vs the slight curve of the stock 51 with the sharp bend down on each side.

im almost positive you will have to do some sheet metal work.

you are going to have to rework the lower front of teh fenders a bit. there is a slight raise in the fenders from the 49-52 chevy grill. you can cut the raised area andpush it back and till its flush with the fender. that would be the easies way.

I really like your grille Bryan, never seen it done that way with those parts. your car really flows with the stance and the rear end treatment. as you may know I am not a fan of "hardtopped" 49-52's, yours is one of my few exceptions. I got a great photo of it at Gambinos, almost inspired me to get out my pencils I haven't touched in 10 years and draw it. what color you going to paint it?

  28. Thanks guys.

I do know you're not a fan of hard-tops and I agree with your reasoning......but don't worry, this one WILL get finished. That's actually going to affect paint, though. I'm SICK of the white primer, so I may spray it before I finish the side glass. That'll mean no clear-coat 'cause I ain't paying for that shit twice. Color is gonna be DARK.......

Drawing is always a good thing, whether it's my pile or something cool.

    Later, Bryan

The hood doesn't really fit to the grille, some modification is necessary....and the ends don't contour to the 49-52 fenders...
I made templates from light cardboard to build the sheetmetal pieces needed..
