hey Don, being from OC,... have you ever seen Central Valley, a town called Mierda, then the next exit is Los Banos? My spanglish is terrible, but I always translated mierda = shite, and Los Banos = the toilets... is that correct?

  14. We always laugh when we pass Los Banos. Dind't know about Mierda, that's funny - it does translate to Crap or Shit, but I've never seen it.

I think you meant Madera, which does not translate to shite......it means "wood" or "timber"

There's also Ford City, Ca., in the central valley near Bakersfield....along with Weedpatch and Oildale...

Just up the road a few miles from where I live is a town called Jaywick, that name has nothing to do with cars but there is a road called Brooklands (after the pre war brick race track.) branching off this is a number of roads named after British car manufacturers ( all gone now). Below is a google map showing the road names such as BENTLEY, ALVIS, RILEY and many more. I don't know the history behind this.

    <iframe width="640" height="480" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&amp;ll=51.774041,1.103289&amp;spn=0.006373,0.013733&amp;z=16&amp;output=embed"></iframe><br /><small>View Larger Map</small>

Looking at the map I just noticed the names of Lincoln and Crossley both American manufacturers.

I live on the Hudson Road in Hudson, Maine and have a 308 Hudson big six waiting to be built in my garage to go in an Essex. Does that count?

....Clear Lake Shores, TX. Lake's the color of shit after bad chilli and consistancy of phlem in several areas. No doubt the Indians that named it are rollin' in their graves.

I certainly hope "redtracker" is kidding!

  29. There are the towns of Slapout, Mustang and Lincoln, Oklahoma. Plus, a little wide spot in the road called Versailles.

Also in OK - Ford Creek, Lincoln County, and my favorite town name - Slaughterville.

Never been there, but I've always wanted to see "Mechanicsville", Virginia, or Georgia.
Not a place, but we have a news reporter here in Seattle by the name of Essex Porter. You've heard of the Essex, but how many knew "My Mother the Car" was a 1926 Porter?
