OK, so i know i will prob get some shit from some of you odler guys out there, but it seems like every car show or summit racing or somwhere, i always see either a shirt or something about "Polly Gas". So i googled it and couldnt find anything vintage about "polly gas station". all just new stuff, new shirts, new remade gas pumps and whatnot. im just curious on the history of it. So, somebody educate me on the history of polly gas please! old pictures would be cool too thanks
The history on Polly Gas is hard to find and the few sources give conflicting information. One writer says Polly began as a chain of independently owned stations selling gasoline in California in the teens and twenties. This source says that Polly became a part of Wilshire Oil of Los Angeles during the Depression. Wilshire was founded in 1910 according to two sources and in 1919 according to another. In any case, Polly stations were a common sight on the West coast from the twenties through the fifties before and after the war. Around 1960, Wilshire was bought by Gulf and Polly stations became Gulf stations.

Good to know they were around in the 1930's, I am thinking of making my '36 pickup into a Polly Gas themed service station truck. (signs on the doors are magnetic right now.
