  3. Don, I wonder the same thing, how much hard drive would one have to have to store all those pictures and maybe WHY?:D

I've been in it - walked those streets many times, including at night in winter (never saw Jimmy Stewart, though). The restaurant at left is credited with being the birthplace of the first ski tow in the US, operated in 1936 on the outskirts of town, and powered by a model T engine. Magical photo is by Marion Post Wolcott.

I store nothing on my computer....Photobucket stores them all at where ever they store this stuff.
As for the "why" comment....when things slow down a bit here, all I do is scan the thousands of old historical related sites on the web, save into Photobucket 15 or 20 images and then post them here.
"Why"?......because it seems like this thread is very popular, gives people something of value to look at, makes them smile, and sharing is what we do best here....right?

Mate, I can tell you that your efforts are very much appreciated too. One of the few threads I always search for every time I'm on,
    .

    Thank you,
    Doc.

Dick was an odd man. He was always uninterested in the ladies and refused to go anywhere without wearing his swim trunks.
He always said that the trunks gave him a play to put the sandwiches that his mother made for him everyday for his lunch.
His other pastimes were wearing a crown (he liked to be called "King Dick") and making elaborate amusement park rides out of his erector set.

Amen on the sharing. If you find something historically interesting or significant, likely others will too. This thread features a cross section of life, a backdrop for the cars, trucks, planes, etc., that we all love.

And I agree with those who say Mazooma is one of this thread's cornerstones. ALSO, with those who say this thread needs NO bumps! LOL

I didn't post the Marion Post winter photo first, I just commented on its beauty and perfect mood. YES! It reminds me too of a scene straight out of "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, Thomas Mitchell and Ward Bond. Released just after the tumult of WWII, it seemed to me like a wistful backward look at peace time and small-town life as it was before. Generally speaking, life, values, the world were not the same after the war, am I right?

And if the movie was a tad idyllic and Capra-syrupy, so what? "Miracle on 34th Street" was just around the corner!!!

  14. Why?? Because he is sharing pictures that most of us would not see otherwise and it is a nice way to get away from present day problems for just a little while...

Here's Steve in "The Reivers," 1969. The car was specially built
for the movie, but I don't recall what it was simulating. Anybody?
