my little 64 Commander 2dr sedan. One of the last South Bend build Studebakers. firewall is set back 12" in the center for a 1954 Hudson Hornet 308 7X nascar spec engine. hope to be at the drag strip this spring to flog her. PaceRacer50

customizer - wow. nice car-nice touch with the flames and pea shooters

deepnhock - yeah, the pedals and the steering column seem loose so I'll have to investigate. has a better chevy radiator and relatively few miles since a rebuild - the original owners did just what you said (overheated it and cracked the head). the p.o. fixed it, so we'll see. another hamber is hooking me up with a spare running motor and trans same year which might come in handy. i don't plan on hauling heavy things with it, so should be ok. It seems like folks tend to keep studebakers.

I just joined this site so I might as well get this part over with. She a 53 Studebaker coupe with no floor or rocker panels or front end. Could a guy start with much less? Didn't want to cut a perfect classic and this one was on it way to the scrape heap. $700 and a clean title. Where does one start?

 

^^^^^ Perhaps not much of it there, but you've started with a pretty decent body. Going to try to find a factory frame or start from scratch? Being connected with a Stude club should
be a big help.

You can buy the entire front end in glass these days. wither in one piece or as parts like fenders hood and chin.

For the old starlight you can actually buy the entire body in glass one piece at a time. but you have an excellent looking tub. and if you want you don't have to buoild t as a step down coupe you can channel it without feeling like you are hurting anything, as if that makes any difference.

I think that there was a commander chassis on here a year or so back if you do a search of the classifieds for Stude frame or the like you may still be in cheap.

That St. Regis has some really unique proportions! Is the drivers side door shorter than the passenger side?

 

My 1964 Studebaker Avanti R2, factory Paxton Supercharger, 4-speed and twin traction control. It's a real hot rod!

 

There are two on eBay right now which is odd because you never see them.

I have pics of a chopped bullet nose w/ a red zodyac carson style top but cant seem to find'em.
Car is way cool, im fairly sure it was a work in progress as it aws a very shitty shade of flat black. thought someone here might know it.

Anyways. Whats the story on this? Its a Packard, but the windshield, roof, fins, and the overall profile really looks like that of a ?57/59?Hawk.
where the 2 manufactureres sharing platforms? I also see a resemblance w/ AMC in the mid 60s models.

 

Yep, Packard & Studebaker merged in '54 in an attempt to stay afloat. That obviously didn't work out too well in the long run.

fun little truck - now sorting some of the electrical or lack thereof.

drives ok, seems to get better when I get out the wrenches and give it some love.

Anybody narrowed one of those Champ beds to actually line up with the cab? I'd love to see a picture of one done to see how it turned out.
