Ive done a few full restorations on old VW's, Ive always said if I find an affordable local model A I will do one... Well this is what I came up with I have no idea how long it has been sitting on its roof but judging by the lower rot, it was wasn't to long. Flipped her over and put her on a dolly so I can move it around with out having to buy a case of beer and beg my buddies to keep coming over. soo yeah I got alot of work ahead of me.
I have started with worse. Go for it! As for whether or not you are nuts, I'm not professionally qualified to say.

Haha yeah I actually bought this a few months back and have been slowly picking at it. I recently got laid off so I have had a little more time to hang in the garage... I will post some more photos. I just need to find them.

Big job, especially considering how many good A bodies are still out there. Good luck with it. Hows your welding skills. If not great enroll in a class as your have the perfect place to practice.
Please point me to one of these mysterious good A bodies with in a 6hr radius of me!!! I been looking for a while this is the best I could find... well for under 3k. this one was under a 1000.00 I am actually a decent welder I do sheet metal work for a living, and that involves alot of light gauge welding.
Yeah, what you said ...! I've read a bunch of posts recently that seem to indicate Model A's and parts are just everywhere .... can't walk down the street without tripping over one of the damn things! What planet do these folks inhabit ...??? Yeah, I know I live in the boonies, but still ....
Ahhh...I like a lot!! Good for you, that is a "Real Project" car. A friend of mine has a pristine '57 Chevy convertable that he restored. And he started out with just he windshield and cowl........Fact... So go for it, and enjoy!!
They are out there...just got to keep your eyes open. That's a big part of the fun for me. I watch farm and estate auctions, e-b*y, and CL like alot of the guys do. I know it was a fluke but I stumbled into this one yesterday for less than $1000 for the whole car. Also saw a couple of repairable sedan bodies sell on e-bay this week for about $500 each.
