    I love Oldsmobiles....

love them. I've had a few, but sold them all off. Had a 69 Delta 88 with 31k on it, stupid me sold it to some lowrider guys. So here I am, looking for a truck or something for a daily and I see a 66 Olds F-85 in really good shape, dude wants to sell it pretty cheap, it's local, apparently runs and drives 100%. So I'm thinking, if I am looking for something that sucks on gas already, then why not this thing? haha.

Anyone have one on here? Done anything to it?

I'm thinking if I got it, Astros and thin w/w's, duals with bellflowers, maybe drop it a little...nothing too crazy, just a nice driver.

Oh, it's a 4 door too. Much love for the 4 doors.

I love my 65..but I dont like gas pigs so I put an LT1 T56 in it, well over 20mpg on the highway.

Why not look for a Caddy Seville with the 350 injected engine. It is a bolt in and would get well over 20 MPG. I love Oldsmobiles too and am a firm believer in leaving them Olds powered.

My very first car was a 61/62 (cant remember) 4dr white F85 with the alum V8 and 3 on the tree.

My buddy had a 69 Camaro with a 307 and he would NOT run me.

    Nice Chevelle! :p

P.S., your 20+mpg probably has a lot more to do with the double overdrive transmission than the engine. Put a T56 behind a SBO and tell me you don't get similar results.

I'm a HUGE Oldsmobile fan....had 15 of them over a 33 year period. I particularly love the 425 engines. I had a 65 Dynamic 88 two door hardtop that consistantly delivered 20-21 mpg on the highway, and hauled ass too! I also think the 330-350 engines never got the respect they deserved.

    I'm an Olds fanatic
Put a 350 turbo in it. tune it properly and drive it . I got 18mpg w my 67 and that was w a leaky carb . My 442 gets 4mpg but thats a whole nother ball game ; p

Definatly dont run it with a brainless act of putting a chity motor in it .

I wish I could have any one of my Olds back that I've I sold over the years. Mine were all Cutlass. I had a 75,76,77, and 80. I'd realy like to trade my 2007 Harley for a 73,4,5,6,or7 Cutlass or 442. See my bike in my album. I'm in Ohio if anyone has one to trade.

Then something like this is always cool if it's just going to be a cheap driver.

Here is an example of a cheap driver. Sorry it's not an Olds but it was only $600! An X cop car I painted it for next to free and drove for 8 years before the rust did it in. And it ran 15.43@89mph and got 18mpg. The same could be cool on the 66 F-85 4-door.

Ya maybe if the SBO had my sequencial fuel injection as well :D
FWIW if olds made a performance car in 1995 the LT1 would be in it, I consider it a "corporate" engine along with the LS1.

I raced a '65 442 out of our Gulf station in Long Beach, California in the very early 70's.

    SWEET cars!

If you dont like gas pigs you are playing with the wrong type of cars, sounds like you need to stick with latemodels and imports.

It was a corporate engine in '95....30 years after your car was built. It's one of those "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" situations. Seriously, why didn't you just get a chevelle or camaro? An LT1 would be right at home there.

Maybe because I really like the look of the 65 olds? When I bought it there was a 454 4 speed in it, so the PO didnt care what was in it either..I built it to drive. FWIW I already have 4 chevelles, looking for a 65 buick 2dr post next.

Yeah, I forgot that if it doesn't have a Chevy engine in it that it's impossible to drive. I wonder how my car gets around all the time?? Must be some kinda miracle.

must be..I am putting an LS1 T56 into my 68 firebird next :)
I have nothing against any make of engine, in fact originally I was going to put a 1970 olds 455 TH400 into the 65, but after owning many newer cars wanted to try fuel injection and the 6 speed, and I love it. I wont debate engine swaps, everyone likes different stuff.

Holy christ, Anderson, that car is so sick. Hahaha. I love it. I'm going to look at this car tomorrow. Guy wants $1300 for it and so far the only thing wrong with it is that the windshield leaks a drip in a spot....which drives me NUTS, but I will check that and the floor underneath the "drip" out very well. I drive around 60 miles a day, but it is 99% highway, so I don't think I'd be too bad. Oh, and it'll stay Olds powered no matter what if I get it.

I have 5 currently. The one below will be getting a straight axle. Just swapped in a bench seat. Will convert from auto to 4 speed. Likely staying small block but adding dual quads, fenderwell headers probably some old school custom ladders bars.

Sorry i havent taken any pics since i picked it up.
