Chevy II "gasser"-from racecar to streetcar

Thanks for sharing, I really like those Chevy II's, never had one.

Does the car have the stock front subframe? Are the headers custom-made?

Actually, the front end was updated by the previous owner to a Speedway axle on a custom subframe. That is one thing that I didn't have to change out!

Headers are a swap meet find, not sure of the brand, but they are for a Chevy II.

Always liked these Chevy s. I might add, many moons ago it was not that uncommon for the starter to be welded together or tacked in a bind....LOL. Looks like you been doing some nice work there gettin' it back in shape. Good to see it wasn't in too bad a shape. Not that my opinion matters a lot. Always have liked altered vehicles..

I still remember sitting in Mickey D's when I was 15 or so and a Chevy II gasser pulls up to the drive thru. It was shaking the tables and glass. Hard to miss! I wanted a gasser ever since and finally am building a '55. I hope it turns out half as cool as yours!

Love the Chevy II's. A 63 Chevy Nova was the first car I built. And your's is awsome. I like to find me a 63 Nova wagon to fix up.

I know its off topic, and I am not trying to derail your thread, but my son and I just drug this home last weekend. He wants to have it on the road the day he turns 16. Thats about 15 months away.

We have a bit farther to go than you did.
