Depends on if you consider any modified car a 'custom' - Like so many seem to do.
Personally I don't consider the bat mobile a custom, but rather a 'prop car'
and in it's first form (before it was converted to the bat mobile), a concept car.
To me, customs are a very specific STYLE - not an all-encompassing catch term.

Orbitron & AlaKart are 'show rods' not customs

And General Lee... common, you need ta be bitch slapped

    Among real gearheads? Hirohata Merc.
    Among tv watchers/wannabe carfolk? Batmobile.

most famous amongst who? if you include civilians I'd guess you'd have to travel far and wide to find someone who has heard of the Hirohata Merc or any of the other cars we liked.

EDIT: Texas Hardcore was thinking the same thing in a different way.

Batmobile is not really a custom. now the Monkeemobile, there's a custom.

All good choices. I'd be curious to know the age of the guys that pick differnet cars. My serious car addiction started in the early 60's. The Ala Kart got lots of press then.

I'd toss my vote in for the "Dream Truck" but it's not that famous these days.

Hirohata Merc was the first on my mind...movie and tv cars don't count...there are so many great and well known kustoms out there, but I guarantee if you took every car guy's top 3, the Hirohata Merc would be on it more often than any other kustom out there...

i'd just about bet that if you did a regular survey, more often than any other you would get Cadzilla. especially if you asked a broad spectrum of "car people" and not just HAMB people.
