Just wondered if anyone can identify this shade of blue.

I love the color and am considering it for my 26 RPU.

Any ideas on how to match it ? Have a photo made and then ??

  2. N.Y. giants blue. i know that doesn't help sorry. can you get a sample? paint supply houses con match colors from samples. if they match a color ,buy a small amount and do a spray out. it's worth the effort and cost to get it right and any wrong sample can be used for undersides or "first" coats.

Looks like something from a newer car..like a corvette or nissan 350Z or something similar. Take a stroll through your local dealership or look online and I'm sure you'll have some luck. Neat color though

  4. Looks like Royal Blue. Try Rust-oleum to see if theirs is close.

A good paint place will have that new "camara" that takes a picture of the color up close & prints out the formula....

Looks like 70 Mustang/Cougar "grabber blue". AMC had a similar "big bad blue", Mopar had "bahama blue". Any of those can be tinted to your vision of the color.

quick edit, If that car were trimmed in a shade of say, "vanilla" instead of that red...

The car is owned by someone who isn't on the Hamb apparently and lives a long ways from me. So unfortunately a sample isn't possible. I have tried to have someone contact the owner for info, so far no luck.

  8. Try starting with this and have store to tint a little. Grabber Blue.

Called Bill and had a chat, he's a nice guy. Said his blue kind of matches the local mail boxes on the street corners. :)

We talked a little about his car and some of the ins and outs of building model Ts.

Was good to bench race with a fellow rodder.

He gave me some info on the paint and will let me know if he has a specific mix number or formula or something like that.

    Thanks for the help Tom

Dodge Dusters and other Mopars had a color similar to that..we always called it "Richard Petty Blue".

It also looks like the blue from a 1975-1978 Chevy Luv pickup.

Mazda has a color called "Nile Blue" that looks exactly like this. I used it on my Stock Car back in the mid 80's. Nice color.
