Posted this in my build thread, thought I might get more response this way. What's your opinion, rings or no rings? They are the wheels for the car in my avatar. I dont want to "run them and see if you like them" because my wheels are powder coated and I dont want to scratch them.
    Thanks!

No rings looks best to me. You eyes are immediately pulled to the center spider cap. Makes the entire wheel look like a hot rod while rings give it a street rod appearance. Plus, why ruin your powder coating.

Where are you going with the car when it's done? That is what should dictate your wheel treatment.

If you are going for a '60s vibe, keep the spyders and ditch the wide whites in favor of narrow whites.

If you are going for a '50s theme, ditch the spyders and keep the wide whites and go for full wheel covers.

Mixing eras just looks like you didn't do your homework...

the rings make the wheel look smaller to me. Hot rod-no, something else, yes.

It kind of depends on the car. For me a car with more patina than polish means less shine. I like the no ring look!

I'm going to be somewhere in between the two? Its the overall look of the car I am concerned with not just the 50's-60's thing. I understand what you are sayin though. Thanks for the input guys.

I thought this car was a custom, I didnt know it was supposed to be period correct.

Rings = Yes It gives the wheels some "flavor" I nice break between the black rim and the tire.
