I owned the former Hayden Proffitt Bel Air and it had the alum on it. It had been added later in 62 when Hayden was still running it. It also had the Z-11 package on it

    Joel,
That picture is from Houston, Tx. Don Gay drove Richter's car. The first run (Gay had told me the track was slick) I used some BX 10 and stood the car on the back bumper. I think I broke 2nd gear on the second run.

It had a 409 car engine in it. I used it to go to Atlanta to pick up my Falcon at Hubert's in it.

Actually Larry, I've been the hospital ten times this year. I bled out three times and at one point had to have nine units of blood.

I am looking for information or photos on the 1969 Winternationals SS/D entry #933 a 1964 Ford Thunderbolt allegedly driven by Wayne Gapp and ran and lost in the first round against Bill Jenkins in his 68 Camaro. Jenkins won class. See Attachments.

If someone has a National Dragster or Drag News that covered the event I would appreciate to find out what is mentioned in it about the SS/D Class eliminations.

If anyone attended the event and recalls any of the above.

I would think Jenkins would of been photographed on every round and somewhere a photo may exist of him running against this car.

I own the Thunderbolt that Ford bought back to run at the event and am looking for any info re this.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Dennis

Here is a new picture that I just recieved from a old fan. I think it was taken at the old Winceville,Mo. drag strip.

Those were the days...I would give anything to get back in the seat of that very car.

    Cool thread.

Not to many examples of 1960 Pontiacs it seems.

The only shots of the original I have are B&W.

The only color shots I have are of the tribute Replica car.

Is the first picture the original car or are there two replicas?

    The B&W's I have.

I'd like to see more of his car, the replica(s), engine, etc.

I suspect there are two replicas.

The first color picture car says 'Driven by Hayden Proffitt'.

The second set of pictures say 'Tuned by Hayden Proffitt'.

After close scrutiny of the decal placement on both and comparing them to the B&W pictures, the Champion Spark Plug decal is placed wrong. The 'flourish' between 'Tuned by' is missing on the second set of color pictures.

So, where is the original? Hayden once told me it was being driven on the street in Maryland, but that conversation is decades old.

I believe that's him in the red cap in the second set of color pictures.

Old Phil Reed would know. :D

Tommy, was that the same car Dick Harrell borrowed from you to make booked race dates?
