chris, i dont think you would know what to do with yourself with a rust free car!! you would get the chop finished and kinda scratch your head going "thats it, thats all i had to do??" hes going to be a happy camper!!

Spoke with Chris this weekend he called me here in Japan giving me more updates on the build. I can't begin to express how amazed I am by this guys work, When we started this project as the last one, he always talked so nonchalant about doing this, oh we chop this here, and add some metal there ,and then I'll just fabricate new one of these blah blah. This car was beyond help in my eyes, when I saw the pics of this I thought ok cool then I saw the missing floors HAHA. I bit through 6 fingernails in 3 seconds flat! Needless to say my faith in Chris never skipped a beat, much appreciation for his patience with me for sure! My military mindset of complete accountability can be overwhelming at times. Anyhow enough about that... Here are a few goodies that will be featured on the '49

Yeah he has a restored Monterey wheel for it. I'm a tad jealous, I sold both mine off, gotta get me another one. Tazhog, they were made from 18 gauge sheet, nothing fancy.

Right on, Mark! Come on by, we can chat cars, you can have a Snapple. One. Not two. I will know...

Driver's side looking like a car again, if I do say so myself! Door opens and closes nice, passenger's side is going to be a strugglefest.

New rocker, lower quarter, rounded the door bottom, eh, you get it.

WOW Chris doesn't mess around, I'd like to point out that the car had no lower quarter or rockers 1 day ago. Amazing work!

Nice work Chris ! Did you make the rockers too or are they re-pops ? You are being a bad influence, gotta stay focused on the 47 before I even think about the Merc !

Ha! They are repops, they fit nice! I have made a few sets of rockers but nothing that I would be ultimately happy with, its better off to buy em.

If you ditched the '47 temporarily for the Merc project, I would understand of course, but I think I'd be banned from the HAMB if I were of any influence in that decision.

Lol I am pretty sure I have ADD , so I have to try really hard to stay focused on one project at a time...doesnt mean I cant find another project and buy parts for it though :D

Wow, you are taking a car that is more rust than car an making a real car out of it. Nice work, keep us posted on the progress.

I must admit that reading these threads and being in an area with no related talent has inspired me to try some sheet metal work myself. Bought a Miller 211 welder the other day and going to start practicing for my 50 Merc.

Desperation breeds inspiration, or is that perspiration?

KoolKemp the Rockers came from Mordor, Sauron forged them himself. Subsequently Chris has been battling with the Nazgul since the install. :D
