Holy tricked-out ride, Batman! The '60s-style Batmobile is now available -- for those with Bruce Wayne bank accounts -- in life-sized replica form.

DC Comics has officially licensed Fiberglass Freaks to re-create, down to the flame throwers (working, natch), the futuristic car that the Caped Crusader drove in the 1960s TV series.

Me too! How cool would that be?!

  4. BEWARE!! I saw that on Yahoo about an hour ago. Clicked on the "road ready" link (in blue letters) and my computer instantly went into virus mode. Lucky my protection software did its job. If I had 150K to spend on a car, a clone wouldn't be it. Still neat looking, though.

They put SBCs in them. Phooey. While I would prefer a Bat Turbine in mine, I'll settle for what the original Futura was powered by - a Bat 428 FE Police Interceptor. Or failing that, a Bat 390 like the fiberglass cars got back then.

    Other than that, way cool.

We got a guy around here that has one. The fiberglass body is pretty bad but looks good from 50 ft.

I remember going to a show once, this guy drives up in a bright red Torino with the obligatory white stripe à la Starsky & Hutch, he's got his windows rolled down, car stereo booming out some funky "boom chick-a-wah wah" 70s disco, his aviator shades and a brown leather jacket. Obviously thinks he's the coolest thing since the last ice age. So he leans out of the window and says to the guy at the gate "where do you want me to park her?" So the Marshall gives the car a good long look and then replies "third row on the left, next to the other two." I think he probably said something similar to the two general Lee's in the same row. I know it probably happens all the time over in the States, but here in little old England, well, I just wish I had a picture of that guy's face.

I'm more a fan of the Green Hornet myself. Don't remember what the car name was (big Chrysler I believe), but it was cooool!

I'd rather have the Munster's Hot Rod over the Batmobile I think.. but either would work.

what a total waste of $150k. Exactly who do you think you would be as you drove down the street? If it ain't the original, it's just a novelty. You want novelty? Buy a white elephant.

Always wanted to build a super gas (bracket racer) roadster out of a batmobile.
