Modified HF bead roller, used 3x3 .120 sqaure tubing. Next I need to make a guide for it.

 

Hell yeah, build it, don't buy chink.

 

Someone with the necessary skill and talent.

Most people would buy one made in China, then wonder why it sucks.
The money they "saved" can be used to buy more imported crap.

25 ears ago I bought an old beat up vice at an auction for a big box store's auto department equipment. Most of the guys around me were making snide remarks about how I overpaid for an old vice and how they could get a brand new one for less money. I'm still beating on that old thing and I'd bet the junk they bought is long gone.

Buddy gave me this HF belt sander. Needed a stand. Didn't want to spend any money and wanted a vintage look.







It's an optical illusion that the railing's crooked.



Filled the column with sandblasting sand for more undercenter weight and vibration damping. It's totally stable.

Had a friend w/a OT GM truck come by to have me help him w/his AC.
Needless to say the orifice tube some how got pushed farther into the tube & was impossible to remove w/needle nose pliers and it finally broke inside the tube while trying to fish it out w/several different things. So I made this tool out of an old screw driver & tacking a 4" dry wall screw to it.




Pushed into the orifice tube and screwed it through it & pulled it out.
Not fancy but it'll work on any GM-Ford-Mopar that uses this type orifice tube...joe

 

my collection of things i've made over past few years-
-sheetmetal clamps
-dies for forming around bolts/screws(pictures of interior show form using dies,swage,roll former)
-english wheel
-roll former
-miniture panel hammer-2 1/2" long head
-planisher
-foot operated shrinker/stretcher(bought jaws only made the rest)
-swage with 10 different pairs of wheels
-machined top 3/4" steel table for panel work(rings a bit when you bash on it with a hammer-was thinking of putting rubber or lead feet on it)

hope to start using all these on my own truck soon.....

Those dies to form a bead around a screw are sweet! gonna have to make some of those.

Bump I dont have anything to add but I was hoping someone else might. this is my favorite thread.

 

Built my Son a Vice stand the other day. Got sick of chasing it around on the floor.

I told my Old Man I would build him one some time back,,, His is next. I started on it last night. I'll need to step out side the box on that one. Has any one ever tried to smooth out a vice with out using mud,,,, It's worse than doing a motor for crap sake's.
I'll post some photos later,,,,, Waite till you see all the crap I brought home for this thing.
Most of You guys Know what your standards need to be when you build your old man something.

 

OK,,,,,, Went out and got the camera. This is where we sit so far with your basic stand. Believe it or not I have more time into trying to smooth out that vice than getting the stand to this point.

Also found some more Crap to add to the pile.

 

Here is a small bead roll that you can use on a bench or take to a car to do edge beads on fenders. It weighs 12 pounds and is very adjustable.

 

I made this simple protractor to help me build my exhaust from mandrel bends.

I am building a sheet metal brake and am looking for some simple hinges any one have ideas that would work I bought some weld on bullet hinges but I don't think they will work.
