I had one years ago, as I remember Plymouth drivelines up through at least 54 would bolt in.

40-41 Plym coupes make killer hot rods.....grab it then stab a Desoto Hemi in it, a /PB Torqueflite or a A833 trans and an 8 3/4" rear end...keep it ALL MoPar !! At least, that may be the way I go haha !!

They especially look great as taildragged kustoms with minmal mods....that body style is killer !!

I had one a few years ago that I found south of town but gave it up to a restorer because it had so much potential for him. Glad you got yours man!

Oh yea I got it..... Been soakin' the cylinders -engine is stuck..... I've got an ad in the wanted section for some missing trim and a good rustfree trunk lid other then that it's a good body. If the engine is junk I may pass it on to another Hamber or take an earlier driver in trade, just not sure yet. thanks for the inspiration photos. I really love the black primered one with the sombreros!

 

are you kidding????? if it's in half way decent shape it's worth having for the right price. nothing wrong with the styling on those cars-great potential.

Tomcat, lowering in front is (simple and crude to big dollar nice ride)
FRONT
heat or swap the springs
Lowered uprights
change front frame clip and suspension
REAR
lowering blocks
4 bar, notch frame and maybe frame/floor mods


The engines were used for MANY years, if yours doesn't revive from the dead you can swap in another (easiest), swap in a Chrysler 6 (more cubes, longer) or a more modern V8 (see http://shadowmtkustomz.blogspot.com/)

If my memory is right the P10 coupe was quite advanced for the day... it was one of the first X frames. I had a 40 plymouth, with a 12 bolt posi rear and an old 350, and a olds 98 interior. It was a great car, and really solid. The next owner put a modern front end in it, a mustang front end I think... that was the only issue with the 350 in it was stopping quick with the old drum brakes. Great looking cars.

I want a 40 ford coupe but they are just too expensive so it looks like a 40 Plymouth or Dodge will have to do since I like them almost as much.

 

Claybill, has a 41 Plymouth street rod for sale in the classifieds. You can't build it for what he wants for it.

 

Looks like he's bought one and put it up for sale again......

They are beautiful cars that deserve more attention than they receive.

 

It's the age-old deal.........the Plymouth usually isn't worth as much
money as a Ford or Chevy when selling. But they are neat cars and
can look really fine. I think any flathead six up to 54 or so will fit in
with no problems. They are out there, often at pretty reasonable cost.

Two carbs and a split manifold helps those motors do a bit better.
And, there's a list of newer rear ends that can be installed to make
it a better highway cruiser.

Not sure why claybill is selling his coupe, but after he got it, he
replaced the motor and did some other work to it. Should be up
in pretty good shape.

 

Great find and all in one piece.. maybe. Looks like a blank canvas for a masterpiece.
