The Mr48Chev crew was up and out the door on time this morning on our way to Vantage, Wa to take in the Eastside VS Westside NO OVERHEADS run.
With stops for cash, gas and the morning papers we were out of town by 9:30 and on our way. A breakfast stop at Kimmie D's in Kittitas (Great food good coffee and reasonable prices) and we were ready to do the last 25 miles following in behind four West side rigs including a red 40 (I think) Ford pickup, A fine looking woody and a slick 36 Ford. Those guys did 70 up hill over Ryegrass without missing a beat.

We slid into the parking lot and found an out of the way spot to park the van (no flathead) and it was dig out the camera and enjoy the fun. I'll have to say that this is the first car event since the very first one I ever attended in Waco Tx in the early 70's that I attempted to (and did I believe) take at least one photo of every qualified participating vehicle in attendance. If I missed a car it was because I didn't find it. Jean and I also agreed on the way back it was one of the most enjoyable events we have been to in years. The reasons for that are first a great group of like minded people, no pressure for high attendance or worrying about dragging in spectators for big gate receipts, no pressure on the participants as far as "winning" an award went. I didn't see one California duster or wiping cloth out to shine up the cars. Bugs and road grime were the badges of honor of the day.

Here are some of the highlights of the day and the rest are on my photobucket link at the end.

Man, all was good until the trip home.

I blew up on snoqualmie pass. Kept it going and it got me home but the damage was fatal. 4 spun rod bearings, 2 spun mains, 4 rods trashed and i lost my wicked cam.

    It'll be back though

Great pics. Thanks! It was a run that anyone that could have should have. That model A PU on the trailer was the only East Side casualty on the trip over with a broken cam gear. Thumbs up for all the Flathead drivers that made this run in spite of the crappy starting weather on both sides of the State. The weather gods made up for it with the perfect weather at Vantage when we got there and the good weather on the return trip East on Sat ( I don't know how the West Siders fared with that end of it). I'm sure some more picture threads will follow on this one.

this thread makes me want a flattie for my modified or a banger.. so I could make the run.. just dont think I could give up the a sbc or modern 4 cyl.. (I just dont trust flatties... have driven a few and it always seems the gas pedal is linked to the temp gage as gas pedal goes down, the temp go up...
