    1899 Autocar - photo taken circa 1923

    ["The Automobile Industry - 1923 - A
    ROPE-TIRED HYDROCARBON CARRIAGE
OF THE 1899 TYPE - When Charles Goodyear
accidentally dropped a lump of his rubber
compound on a hot stove, he little dreamed
of the forty million cord and fabric tires that
would annually rise out of his discovery, or
of the motor-car industry made possible
    thereby. Photograph by Brown Brothers
    (These outstanding historic photographs
are from a 1923 National Geographic
    article entilted: 'The Automobile Industry
    - An American Art That Has Revolutionized
    Methods in Manufacturing and Transformed
    Transportation')
    "]
    ------------
This is the same Autocar company that later
went on to become a major manufacturer of
    heavy trucks.

I could only find a poor copy of the photo. The original came from Horseless Age I think. The link that you posted is fantastic! I have increased my Apperson photo data base by a factor of 4 in just the last 12 hours. Thanks to all who have posted, keep it up.

A new 'mystery car'! I know what this
one is. Does anyone else???:D A few hints.
It was made in by a short-lived company
located in U.S Mid-west that lasted about
    a year - between 1920 and '21 - and they
only produced about 5 of these cars before
    going bust.

Looks like the Stevens-Duryea tag on the lower cowl, the spare tire is blocking part of it. This would be a Model XXX, there are three known to exist, and I painted the chassis of two of them. :)

Last of my Apperson photos car #16 driven by Herb Lytle, I know it is very poor quality, but wanted to add it to the collection.
