Oh my god dude, that just made it!!!!! What are you running wheelbase wise? I think the key to a good looking drag coupe is keeping it short like 104".

 

7 or 8 inches looks great on a T coupe... Great proportion. Nice goin' Josh!

I ended up at 7 1/2" on the chop....it's just enough that I still fit...haha. I also sectioned the header above windshield so it lined up with the sides, and so Icould see out better...

Jeffery, the wheelbase is @ 106.....I like 'em short too....hotrods with long suicide front ends usually have less than favorable proportions.....

 

That's cool. I'm stoked to see this car come together. A T Coupe drag car is my favorite kind of drag coupe with maybe the exception of a '32.....but that's only because I'm going to building one. If I didn't have my body I think I'd be searching for a T coupe for sure. What size tire are you running up front? I think a little bigger up front helps with the proportions as well.

On my '32 I plan on running 6.00x16" up front and 6.50x16" slicks out back from Hurst. I love the look of the mid 50's drag cars that sat sort of level and just looked all business. I'm going to run Moon Disks front and back and probably end up painting most of the suspension white. I am sooo fucking stoked to get that thing running but I'm sure it'll be closer to when I am 50 years old as I am missing some coin for it. I guess I'll just have to live through you buddy!!!

This is going to be a kinda drag/SHOW car.....a car that may have been a drag car in late '50's, then slowly turned into a show car, yet still a street driven car...
It's gonna have a few show "tricks" that a drag car wouldn't have had BITD, but it's not going to be GAUDY like some early 60's show cars....that and it's gonna haul ass! haha
Plan for front tires are double pinner white motorcycle tires on fog painted '40 Ford style wheels.

A little more progress on the top....
These T's aren't as simple as they look, as the pillars are tapered....so once chopped, the side window flanges no longer line up. So in an attempt to fix that, I cut out the upper half of flange and sectioned it back. Not sure this is how it's "supposed" to be done or not....but hey, it "should" work...haha.
Corners of top also needed a few releif cuts to get 'er all lined up...

When you're talking about the a pillars I think the of the Weez's painting Cherry Pie. That shows (not exactly) how tapered the posts are on a T. I can care less if you're as ugly as this guy but I'm super stoked about this car as I love me some T coupes!!!! hahahah!!!

 

Nothin' like a severely chopped "T" Coupe ! It will be looking mean on the strip or at the show !

Ok...just hold yer horses......

Mocked up the Corvair box....what a pain in the ass...I'm still not sure if I like it. Never liked the look of a steering box cluttering up the side look. But it's "trad" so..... Buick drums mounted...they just need the back machined to mate up with the backing plates...no biggie.

I'm still messing with the steering. As you can see, I dropped the arms on the '48 spindles, about as far as I think they can go and I still have very little clearance between the spring and tie-rod. And I don't think there are bolt-on steering arms with a deeper drop than where I am now....

 

Looking good I love the wheel and tire combo. On a T coupe I also like keeping the WB as short as possible.

Maybe you could put a z in your cross link. I saw a thread earlier today where the guy did that to clear his grille shell. I have a very similar set up on my 34 truck. My cross link just clears the spring. I believe my spring hangers are mounted higher then yours though. I have the speedway deep drop arms and mine just clear the bones.

 

looking good man, I am dealing with the same thing after taking 20 inches from the roof on my t the other day with lining up the window flanges.

 

20 inches???? Do ya even have windows left????

 

Havn't looked for a short while but its looking real good, keep the pics coming mate.

 

Finishing up the dash....capped the ends and added the S-W gauge panel.

You gonna use any body mount bushing? I am looking at the channel/floor on my t sedan, but can't figure a good way other than running a thin rubber mount between the frame and the sill plate after i drop it down?

Love the wheels and tires, and great minds must think alike, cause I had the exact same plan for front suspension. I hope you get all the kinks ironed out so I don't have too!

 

I'll just use a thin strip of "something" along top of frame....

Spent the day working on passenger door...getting it chopped, patched and fitted. Had to split the upper part to get 'er all lined up....







The lower part of door is pretty bad...inner and outer gone...
So I made new pieces. Forget to snap a pic of the inner lower panel I made...nothin' special really though...just something that resembled og piece for the skin to wrap around.
