A note to ChopOlds with regard to what shows up at Lead East. We went as a club to the very first Lead East. I had a crimson scalloped, louvered, lowered red "48 Chevy coupe and ended up parked next to an Isetta which had been sprayed with glue and purple flock applied so it looked like a fuzzy cartoon car from Saturday morning TV. SO I am not surprised with your observation.
In fact for the collectors of esoteric paper regarding the sport, I still have the two page letter written to me by Terry Cook "banning me for life" from any event he put on in perpetuity. This was based on my long list of complaints and criticisms that I sent to him following the event.

 

The ugliest thing at Lead East is the price! I avoid this show....its like $8 bucks for spectator parking..WTF! And yes, alot weird shit driving around over there....sorry to say but for me its not worth it... $0.02 ~E

Hey, McPhail! Didn't I see you peddling your wares at Lead East a few years ago? There's ugly cars at every show, no matter where on the planet it is held. I'm sick of hearing the whole "East Coast ugly" thing. I bet the guys with the ugly cars love 'em as much as we love ours, so stop pickin' on 'em, ya big bully! FYI, Kustoms Illustrated is brought to us by an East Coast guy!

a great lead east comes to a end for those who haven,t been to lead east it,s a party not a car show with bands, cars ,and a fifty feel you get to see great customs , hot rods, stocks,and some strange shit that guys build just for lead east for the fun i.ve been to alot of shows but this is the only car party that last for 4 days and nights it,s when you get up to when you pass out there are folks dress in fifty just for fun of it

I'm with alot of the guys whove been going to Lead East since the 80's. While I haven't been going going quite that long, the show has really gone downhill. When half the cars in the "World's Biggest 50's Party" are '63+ and the top 9 consists of a '67 C10, some kind of pro mod 80's Dodge, 2 Skr8p kit cars, and a street rod that barely ran, you know the place is starting to suck big.

 

too many rust buckets got scrapped in the northeast to have a 63 under anymore ?
