Friday before Labor Day weekend, my son and I went for a walk thru the woods on an old farm that my folks owned many years ago. The owners have been friends and we've stayed in touch all along. I knew from when I was a kid that there was an old farm dump that had long grown over and is barely noticable these days. We started pickin' around and found a few old car parts & pieces. While a few items are likely good only for 'yard art', some of the other stuff might come in handy. Here's a few things we found: An old pickup box - even had the tailgate with it - anybody know what it is? And a gastank/cowl piece off a whatzit? An instrument cluster, no idea what it's from: A pair of fenders with what's left of headlight buckets and crossbar: A couple of grille shells - the first one I tried to identify but couldn't find anything close: And this one: This partial dash-panel had us wondering what it was. Especially interesting is that little tag on it: "Coasting Switch Underneath" (looks like aluminum): And this cowl assembly, still has the serial # tag on it: "Fisher Body" means it's GM, I'm guessing Chevy, any ideas? We left quite a few parts & pieces in the woods, it was getting dark and we had to get home - 200 miles away. But we'll be back. If anyone can clue us in on what these pieces are we'd appreciate the help. We're mostly Ford guys and I don't any of these are Ford, at least nothing we've seen before.
early model a ford gas tank/cowl top. and the first grille sheel is between 33 to 35 chevy The full dash with the rectangular gauge center piece is very cool. No clue.
yeah, but since they were found then they were heard(and smelled)-like when a tree falls in the .....oh,nevermind
i found a 48 ford woodie out by me and a bunch of other shit. also went on a hunt for a few model A's supposedly sitting untouched. but all we found were chiggers man did that suck.
Wow you folks are pretty good! I'm still wondering about that pickup box, my guess is it's Chevy but the tailgate isn't marked so I guess it could be anything. I just wonder what kind of "chop shop" this stuff came from, so many years ago, as there seems to be quite a mix of old American steel here. There's more where it came from, we hope to make another trek up there in a few months to see if we can recover any more of it. And if any signs of "old farts" are found, we'll leave 'em as-is, where-is ! Thanks for the help identifying them.
